    The Selgaunt Campaign

OOC: Xen, without spells or special abilities that allow you to do so, there is never a way to know if stepping through an opaque portal is a safe thing to do -- Marduke certainly knows this. He also knows that most portals "pull" you through the moment you touch them, although there are...

Looking for some new plot/campaign ideas

It would be useful to know what tends to interest you -- or not interest you, whichever list is shorter. ;) And if you haven't already, you might want to peruse back issues of the Roleplaying Tips newsletter (free) for suggestions on the topic: www.roleplayingtips.com.

What RPG books/manuals do you really regret buying?

Correct on all counts (and it was 2000). :) This is a gorgeous book, and given how good LUG's treatment of Star Trek was, I assume it's also a pretty good game.

    Dry Erase Battle Mat

I use 1" square graph paper that comes in big rolls -- about 3-4' wide and around 60' long per roll. Works like a charm. :)

What RPG books/manuals do you really regret buying?

In the overall scheme of things, very few -- but there have been some... Diablo d20 stuff Diomin Dragonlords of Melnibone Dungeons (AEG) Everquest PHB Evil (AEG) Hero Builder's Guidebook Diomin is the single worst gaming product I've ever owned...and I used to own Rifts and World of Synnibar...

    Point Buy Negative Values

Why not just scrap the "base of 8" point buy approach, and use a different base number (such as 3)?

Did I do the right thing?

I agree that you did the right thing by breaking up with her, Ken. As far as reporting to the police -- that's a tough one. Without knowing more background, I'd have to say I wouldn't have done that -- it just isn't my style. Do you feel like reporting her was the right thing to do, or is it...

    The Gamers

I haven't seen it quite this often (maybe 5-7 times), but I agree wholeheartedly that it stands up very well to re-watching. It's also a great icebreaker with a new gaming group, and every gamer I've ever showed it to enjoyed it. :)

What should the next "Monster Type" book from WotC be?

Sweet, sweet oozes. It probably won't happen, but a guy can dream, right? ;)

Would your group stop a woman from joining?

I knew someone would sum up my feelings on this one -- thanks, Whizbang. ;)

    Dry Erase Battle Mat

The one major benefit of cmanos' suggestion is that you can reuse the map later -- which you can't do with Tact-Tiles. My current FR campaign reused maps regularly, and it was nice to have them on paper rather than having to redraw them each time. ;) Apart from that, one more w00t! vote for...

What RPGs do you own but haven't played?

I used to do this, but every time I sold something I found that a) I wished I hadn't (I love books!), and b) I either wanted to read it, play it, or run it not long thereafter. Have you ever regretted your sales, wolf?

do you play any non-d20 games? If so, what?

Currently? Nope. I run an online FR game, and play in a tabletop Stargate game. I've enjoyed all sorts of non-d20 goodness in the recent (Twilight 2000, Pendragon) and not-so-recent (Warhammer FRP, Shadowrun, GURPS, Paranoia, etc.) past, with Call of Cthulhu (BRP) being one of my all-time...

Fellow DM, How do you handle Hit Point at each new level ?

What fixed amount do you use? Does it vary by class, race, etc.?

    World's Largest Dungeon. Any good?

There are built in RP opportunities. Many of the denizens of the different regions interact with their neighbors, and the PCs get chances to wind up in the middle. There is also one region that is not run by hostile creatures, if memory serves. For your second question, the sections are pretty...

Fellow DM, How do you handle Hit Point at each new level ?

For my current campaign, we use this method: Roll and take what you rolled, or half of your max, whichever is higher. I wanted the PCs in this campaign to have a bit of an edge, and while I personally hate rolling for HP lots of other folks seem to like it. ;) This was the best compromise I...

    Goodman Games June Releases

Thank you for satisfying my curiosity. :) This remains one of my favorite d20 lines, and at present it's the only one for which I buy every title that comes out. Keep it up!

    Goodman Games June Releases

Out of curiosity, Joseph, are you planning on sole-authoring any more DragonMech books, or do you have your hands full with other projects?

    Word Processor or Legal Pad?

I use a pad for jotting down ideas, although I usually have an text file for doing the same sitting on my PC desktop. For actually writing adventures -- or anything else for my games, for that matter -- I use the computer. If I'm on a roll, I think faster than I can write -- but not usually...
