    The Selgaunt Campaign

Climbing back up to the bridge, Marduke peers into the previous chamber. Both spelleaters are still there, curled up despondently on the floor where the Follies last saw them. One of them -- Marduke thinks it's Griffilhalz -- lifts its head and glances up at the dwarf, and then settles its head...

    The Selgaunt Campaign

OOC: They don't do anything when you poke your hand into the arch, but Tal suspects that they are still functional.

    Balancing a variant Half-elf

You could also go the racial levels route (from Unearthed Arcana) and have Spell Focus as a bonus feat at your second half-elf level, for example. That way non-spellcaster half-elves needn't waste their time with it, and you can do whatever you like with NPC half-elves.

    DMG II Announced

I've really enjoyed Jesse Decker's work, and if memory serves Noonan has some solid FR credits -- this sounds like a good team.

Some good advice on play-by-post gaming?

I started my first PbP game a couple months ago (as a continuation of a tabletop campaign), and spent quite a bit of time beforehand reading existing PbPs and taking notes on how I wanted to approach things. I'd recommend doing something similar -- it was really helpful for me. Since none of my...

    The Selgaunt Campaign

Marduke climbs down without any problems, but quickly finds that the sphere doesn't seem to have anything to do with any of the portals. OOC: Not sure what you meant by lit up, but I assumed Marduke went for the shiny, dust-free sphere. That's really the only difference: one is free of dust and...

    The Selgaunt Campaign - OOC

Sounds good, and I'm sure glin would be fine with that. Thanks. :) He's posted on 3d6 (http://3d6.org/pc_marduke.php) and I believe that info is up to date. I'd say add him to your roster until we hear from glin again. ...and just so everyone knows, next time the Follies get a solid night's...

    The Selgaunt Campaign

Artemis finds all three portal arches completely devoid of any symbols or markings whatsoever. Both marble spheres, however, have Netherese writing etched into their surfaces. Each bears the same inscription, and they are very fine carvings -- almost too fine to feel, and only visible if the...

    The Selgaunt Campaign

Woo-hoo! Tuggle heads down the bridge to its midpoint, and casts recent occupant twice -- once on the floor below, in the middle of a regiment of clay soldiers, and once on the far end of the bridge. The last occupant among the soldiers was Grifflihalz, one of the two spelleaters. In the mouth...

New Years Resolutions -- What does 2005 hold for you?

For me, 2005 holds an absence of New Year's resolutions. ;) I've made them for the past two years, with mixed success -- though overall I'd say it was a positive experience. But so much of my life changed in 2004 that I really don't know what to expect out of 2005, and I don't want to be...

Strange Seas (need help designing strange waters)

Depending on the minerals involved, the waters might... - Be immediately hazardous -- caustic (highly acidic or basic), damaging to living or nonliving material (or both), give off fumes, etc. - Have low visibility beneath the waves (anyone swimming underwater who wasn't adapted to it wouldn't...

Which is your favorite on-screen Star Trek captain?

Picard! So sexy, so well-reasoned, such a good man -- he's dreamy. ;)

    The Selgaunt Campaign

OOC: Per Art's request in the OOC thread, here's the map of the area: siphon room map. I'm going to wait to hear from db to keep going. glin never nominated a pinch hitter, so if someone wouldn't mind volunteering to play Marduke during his prolonged absences, you can do so over in the OOC...

I would like a simple sorceror revision.

Do you mean you make a custom spell list for them to choose from, or that you choose their spells for them? If it's the latter, that sounds like it would be very frustrating for the player in question.

    Books Bought on Reviews/Recommendations?

Oddly enough, I also picked both of these up based on hearing about them here. The Eberron CS, AEG's Mercenaries, and my set of Tact-Tiles were also purchased based on EN World (word of mouth on the boards for Eberron and the tiles, reviews for Mercenaries). There are probably others that I...

    Need that gnome!

Do you really like Star Wars?

I like the original trilogy (yes, even Jedi), and to a lesser extent Episode II, as well as most of the toys, and all of the Lego that doesn't stem from Episode I. ;) I've read maybe one of the books, and none of the famous ones (like Zahn's), and not seen any of the TV specials or other...

    Welcome to the 5th anniversary!

Thanks for updating Slate and making it available again, Michael. It looks good with the new icons and other little changes you've made across the board.

    [Dec] What are you reading?

Chugging away on Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, which is excellent -- dense, surprising, and very enjoyable. It'll probably occupy me well into January. :)
