    Deragatory Terms for Warforged?

    "Clanks."

    The Selgaunt Campaign - OOC

Art, tdr and I all have Gmail accounts. I suspect db may as well. It's pretty spiffy. I've made a friend here who I talk to a lot over email, and the conversation archiving feature is incredibly useful for rambling back-and-forth exchanges.

    Welcome to the 5th anniversary!

I may just be projecting my own opinion here, but I'd say that changing the default style -- without (for the moment) leaving the old one available -- is always going to ruffle some feathers. Sometimes that feels like change for the sake of change, although I don't think that's your intention...

    Terry Pratchett

Last Hero is one of my favorite Discworld books overall -- like Interesting Times, you get to see a lot more of Cohen the Barbarian, the art is great, and it's just a lot of fun to read. Going Postal is quite enjoyable. I'm blanking on his name, but the main character is neat -- and there's a...

World's Largest Dungeon in actual play [Spoilers!]

Well, after starting it and following it with intense interest for awhile, I stopped posting to it because I stopped running the dungeon. The amount of work I would have needed to do to retrofit Region A to my tastes, coupled with the metric crapload of other stuff going on in my life, meant it...

    Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell

Well, I picked it up yesterday with some Christmas money, and thus far it's excellent! I was very much in the mood for a dense and detailed read, which this book looks to promise. One thing that strikes me as odd -- not sure how I feel about it yet -- is that abbreviated titles (mister, doctor)...

    Chronicles of Riddick future setting

The names really bothered me when I saw it in the theater, but by the time the DVD came out I was excited about it for the parts I enjoyed. And you're right: it's not exactly a new tradition to give things pretty obvious names, whether in sci-fi or in real life. I still have trouble swallowing...

How long have you been with your gaming group?

For my group back in Michigan, either 6 or 7 years (I voted 6) -- and we're still playing together online, as we're now in different states. I also found a great group here in Utah, but I've only been with them for about 3 months.

    About Spray Primers

Back when I painted minis, I found that this also happened when it was too humid outside. If I waited for a drier day, I got good results (incidentally, good results with Citadel primer -- to each their own!).

Merry Christmas to you all as well. :)

    What's your screenname mean?

Haiiro is an archaic word for "gray," or "the color of ash" in Japanese. I took and enjoyed a lot of Asian studies courses in college, and when I was casting around for a new username about 5 years ago, this one jumped out at me. It has always been very deliberately lowercase. At the time, I...

    Christmas Misery: the losers' thread

I'm impressed that you've managed to deal with that situation for two years -- with more lumps piling up over time, as well -- without going batsh*t. That says a lot about your character. I wish I could say something that would help, but all I can think of is: Wow, that really sucks.

    Snatch thumbs up!

I loved Snatch, but I wasn't wild about Lock, Stock. Have you checked out Guy Ritchie's BMW film? It's easily my favorite on that disc, and it's brilliant.

    Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell

I was listening to the author on NPR today, and decided that I really wanted to read this one. I picked it up in the store a little while back, flipped through it, and didn't think it was my speed -- but now I rather suspect it is. What do you think of it, greg?

    Christmas Misery: the losers' thread

I read that long story, and as much pain as it's causing you now I'm still very glad you got out of that situation, AMG -- it was the right thing to do.

[Trailer] Kingdom of Heaven (Ridley Scott)

I believe so, and I think I also spotted the chap who plays Hamish in Braveheart. Looks like a pretty good cast overall -- Liam Neeson in a medieval role is excellent!

The 150+ round combat that took over 5 hours...

The "bigger" combats in my current campaign have been on the order of 10-15 rounds, and taken 3-5 hours. I'm similarly impressed at how much ground you covered in your 5 hours, Creamsteak!

What world has the best maps?

Forgotten Realms, in my book. Between the ones from the old gray box and the ones from Dragon, the maps do everything I need: nicely evoke the feel of the setting while providing concrete, easily accessible and very useful info about the world. I found Greyhawk's kind of boring, Eberron's...

    The Selgaunt Campaign - OOC

I'm guessing the eastern seaboard has been engulfed in a horrible nuclear fireball, or maybe eaten by cannibal Canadians. I've been busy too, so no worries -- just needed to rib you all. ;)

Sell me on the Black Company novels [Merged Threads]

Thanks for the great feedback, all! This sounds like a series that would be very much up my alley, and I appreciate the info. :)
