What are the least-used skills in D&D?

Based on my own experience (DMing and playing), I'd say Profession and Forgery. I don't think I've ever taken either of them as a player, and I don't think anyone in any of my games since 3.0 came out has taken them either. Have others had the same experience with these two skills -- or with...

    The Selgaunt Campaign - OOC

I'm guessing Artemis, tdr and db may have thought 1:00 AM 11/13 EST meant Sunday, not Saturday -- or something else came up. Anyhoo, I'll give round 2 a bit more time to marinate and see what happens. Three of you taking total defense would be pretty silly. ;)

    The Selgaunt Campaign

Marduke OOC: glincaelin's post from over in OOC ----- “By Torm’s overactive hair glands, does anyone have a rope?!” OOC: Marduke will ready to climb down a rope if one is tied off, and will tie one off if someone give him one.

More Charisma Than a Roomful of Nymphs (finished, link to full SH in last post)

Questioning the Homun Out in the substantially warmer hallway, the Follies conferred among themselves. As no one but Thissiken and Mephiskaran had eaten any of the food, there was some speculation that Thissiken might be under some sort of magical influence. A few brief questions established...

The feel of playing the game -- DM POV vs. Player POV

As a player, I'm a lot more immersed in the moment (at least when I'm really into my character), and I rarely think long-term. I also tend to crack a lot more jokes. Interestingly, I don't tend to visualize things right away, either -- images will come to me later in the session, or after it's...

Who are your favorite characters from fantasy & sci-fi stories?

I wonder if there's any connection to Squee from Jhonen Vasquez' JTHM comics...?

    The Selgaunt Campaign

OOC: Unlike actually turning/rebuking undead (where you have to present your holy symbol), Divine Vigor only requires that you "spend a turn/rebuke attempt." I'm going to rule that this requires no motion -- you just get all vigorous. As for the acid, your resistance means there's only a 1 in 6...

    The Selgaunt Campaign - OOC

Well, I'll say one thing about PbP combat from my perspective: it takes a long time to think about, and then write up! Factor in re-lettering the map image, and both posts together probably took about an hour and a half. I cringe every time I roll something for you guys, and it turns out to be...

    The Selgaunt Campaign

Round 2: Monsters' Actions The mandible-ferret Artemis is trying to skewer skitters back a few feet, then posts again and spins a web of unwholesome magical threads and flings it at the barbarian. The larger one looks hungrily at the three Follies crowded into the doorway above, faceted eyes...

    The Selgaunt Campaign

Round 1 Completed, Start of Round 2! OOC: Picking up with Artemis's action... With a cry of, "Magic eating weasels!" Artemis somehow endeavors to flop gracefully off of the bridge, rapier in hand, and land upright. Still moving, he dives and rolls over the chasm -- it's deep, but only about a...

Who are your favorite characters from fantasy & sci-fi stories?

There are a lot of characters I know and also like in this thread, but these two I've never heard of -- care to share some details? I'd rather hear it from you than Google it. ;) Granny Weatherwax and Corwin of Amber...ooooh, good calls. :)

    The Selgaunt Campaign

Round 1 - Partial OOC: This is going to be tricky... With Artemis already a few steps out onto the canted bridge, and Tal blocking the doorway as he describes the room beyond it, Tuggle darts down the corridor and peers around the aasimar. As the sphere of torchlight expands, the gnome's...

Who are your favorite characters from fantasy & sci-fi stories?

Who are your favorite characters from fantasy and science fiction stories? It's been awhile since I've seen a thread along these lines, so I thought it might be fun to start one up again. Personally, I have trouble choosing a single favorite, so I limited myself to 2 per category: Fantasy...

    The Selgaunt Campaign - OOC

Even though everyone has posted, because of glin's confusion I want to wait a bit longer to end the round -- there's still 24 hours or so to go, so if you want to change anything just pop in and do so. Apart from glin, I don't get the impression anyone wants to change their action. glin, your...

    The Selgaunt Campaign - OOC

DM (S) and DM (C) are my way of saying "monsters you don't know much about yet." The letters are there to help me keep track of which is which -- it's a safe bet, for example, that (C) is the gelatinous cube. ;) As far as turn order goes, I'll take another shot at it -- the full explanation is...

    The Selgaunt Campaign - OOC

Nothing in my notes, unfortunately. They're both martial weapons, so that only rules out Tuggle as far as who can use them (and Tal, although he's out of the running at the moment -- wasn't around to receive them). My dim memory is that Cupric kept Viper's Tail, Feverrik's shortbow, and Artemis...

    Weapon vs Armour type modifiers

That's exactly what I was thinking, but you said it better. Weapon type vs. armor modifiers are one of the things about 2e that made me cringe (like speed factors), and I don't miss them one bit.

    D20 Linguistics

I'm anal enough to really enjoy creating names and language snippets that have solid underpinnings for my games -- I love when products include enough info to do so for fantasy/sci-fi languages. I say go for it. :)

    The Selgaunt Campaign - OOC

Roger that. :) Say hi to the Metropolitan Museum for me! With an action declared and one in the can, you'll be all set until the three pit fiends mangle your body horribly the 3rd round begins. ;)
