    D&D General Western-Inspired D&D adventures

Many years ago I did Westwater, which was a western b/x version. The immediate feedback I got was 1 star reviews stating "D&D shouldn't do westerns."

What Game Publishers Are Saying About The Tariffs

The KS model has moved from its inception. Now many if not most companies use it as a marketing tool with artificially low goals.

What Game Publishers Are Saying About The Tariffs

I get this. Or, and bear with me, it might not be this. The 80s had two significant recessions from 1980 to 1982. D&D also spiked right about then. Sure, the Satanic panic sparked some of that (according to Tim Kask), but I also think we should consider bang for buck. During recessions and hard...

    D&D General 1e feel for 5E

When people make these suggestions, slow hp recovery is always top of list (I get why). But an even bigger feel to me is the difference in magic. In 1e, magic items were frequent, but the PCs themselves had limited (or none in some classes) magic. The level of magic in the world was managed...

    OGL, ORC, CC or?...

This is exactly what I did with GEAS. Just easier to have a separate SRD document that's clear to folks.

D&D General grodog's GaryCon XVII report

Man, I chose the wrong year to skip Gary Con. So many people ended up being there that I really wanted to see (like Daniel and Rose Estes). I've met Rose several times (we live 2 hours away), but I've never met Daniel and we've worked together several times and I really wanted to see him in person.

Do Tariffs Apply To RPG Books? Maybe, Maybe Not!

I ran another quote, using the cheapest options for a 350 page hardcover full color book

No, based and printed in China.

Do Tariffs Apply To RPG Books? Maybe, Maybe Not!

I think shipping was $4K more ($22K total). But that should be total price to the door, so I assume includes all the fees

Do Tariffs Apply To RPG Books? Maybe, Maybe Not!

I just ran a quote from Print Ninja for 1000 books, full color, 350 pages. $17 a book. When I did TF 2 years ago, it was $9. $20 seemed really high, but I guess that's what it is now. Crazy.

Do Tariffs Apply To RPG Books? Maybe, Maybe Not!

When I printed Twilight Fables about a year or so ago, I went through Print Ninja, which were printed in China. A few months ago Print Ninja announced they established a US based printer for print runs of 500 or less (which may be more now, now that tariffs are what they are). So that might...

Five Takeaways From the 2025 Monster Manual

When I first saw the changes to orcs in the MM, and the essential removal of them outside of generic "use this stat block", I saw an opportunity to flesh them out as traditional adversaries with fully fleshed out cultures (HORDE). Here is an example of a couple of them (there are almost a dozen...
