    Better Synergies?

Good point - I didn't think about that, but the same argument would work for aid another checks.

    Tiefling Paladin/Rogue

Ever seen Improved Crit with a rapier? You get threats on 15+. And what's that one prestige class that gives triple crit that stacks with improved crit :confused:? I think it's Disciple of Dispater, but I could be completely wrong. That means threats on 9+. Bring in the 3E Weapon...

    DM Hazing

That sounds like the DM wasting his own prep time, if he didn't tell the players to make characters relevant to the campaign, and then refused to allow them to make relevant characters. It's also a waste of the players' time. It sounds like the DM was simply abusing the players by giving a...

    Play dress up

We used to have some difficulty about being out-of-character, rather often... Our solution was to have character hats. If you weren't wearing a hat (just any hat), then you aren't in character, which means you can't take actions or communicate information to other characters. The result was...

    Changing the paladin

Exactly - the purpose is to kill evil. What better trophy for a blackguard to mount on his wall as he tells tales of treachery and deceit to his pet vrock?

    Best Bad Guy Threat

Throwing a table at the PC's. That's about the best you can do for a villain that can't talk (or at least, I figured things with an anatomy similar to an iron golem couldn't talk). Best from something that can talk, I might have to think for a while.

You can't play that, you don't RP well enough

I'd let anyone play anything, but then, I tend to reward role-playing. If you're a bad role-player, your possible characters aren't limited, but if you do a really bad job of role-playing, it doesn't pay off. A good RPer wouldn't get XP for his/her RPing, but a paladin who really exemplifies...

    Changing the paladin

Maybe the powers only function for the paladin that the swords are linked to. Yeah, really.

    Swashbuckler's starting gold?

Yeah, really, that's bizarre. I don't think there was starting gold in Complete Arcane or Complete Divine, though.

    Advice needed on tactics

Isn't there something along the lines of an Ascetic Rogue feat in CA that lets you stack levels of monk and rogue for determining unarmed damage, and gives you bonuses with the stunning fist + sneak attack combo? Edit: Yeah, there is - Ascetic Rogue adds rogue levels to monk levels for...

Please help with a "fiery" combat

Sounds like you've got some ideas - the first thing that came to mind was something like the fire races in the beginning of Unearthed Arcana. Any other fire-related templates could probably work too. I don't remember where the rules for genasi went, but you might have some of those, I suppose...

Yeah that's right, I killed a DRAGON single handed

Smaug's in The Hobbit. I don't remember the name of the one in Beowulf, but I do remember that the dragon killed Beowulf, so you might not want to have a battle like that one.

Changing grip from 1h to 2h?

I like the comparison to talking - have it be a free action with logical limits, as determined by the DM. A paladin can raise a hand from his greatsword to cast a spell and then put it back in the same round. But you should have some limit to it before it becomes a larger (and pointless)...

    Two hands needed for grapple?

I ruled with a devil I made a while back that you need to have one hand free to grapple with someone if you want the result of the grapple to be picking that person up and hitting other foes with that person. They don't even have to be pinned - although that would make them stop flailing and...

    Better Synergies?

Gonna play a scout. I can hear the other players whining already...

Well, it's pretty split which is better in the areas it's designed for: rogue or scout, so I'd assume they're probably pretty balanced. I don't think scouts should have disable device. That's not what they were designed for. I believe scouts can still be stealthy, which is important for both...

    Better Synergies?

I wasn't completely sure what Impessa's notation meant, but I thought characters could get the original +2 bonus for 5, +1 at 10, 15, and 20, then +2 at 25, +1 at 30, 35, 40...etc. The original synergy bonuses remain in place, but there's another +1 at every intermediate 5. Or else, 15 and 35...

    Better Synergies?

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. That's what I was thinking. My analogy that I didn't state earlier was this: someone with 5 ranks in knowledge (arcana) get as much of a bonus with spellcraft as someone with 200 (except, as pointed out, there are epic synergy bonuses that I had forgotten)...

    Tiefling Paladin/Rogue

I just now read the Shadowbane Inquisitor class - if you're determined to go with that, you do need power attack, but it's definately not anti-stealth - you get sacred bonuses on stealth with some abilities. A greatsword-wielding character that hides in shadows is an unusual build indeed, but it...

    Tiefling Paladin/Rogue

Oh, wow, I missed the part about the heavy armor and big sword. If that's really what you want your character to look like, you should listen more to silentspace and less to me. I just liked the more stealthy concept of a rogadin (palogue?).
