    Gleemax Q&A

Well, to me it looks like OP is *just* for blogging campaigns. Gleemax is for general gaming blogging. If someone wants to review a new sourcebook, they can post it. If they want to rant about the state of the industry, they can post it. If OP is supposed to be as open as that, then you should...

Monte Cook at it again (Will this be his take on 4e fighters?)

I hope so. I missed out on getting Ptolus the first time around. I know I can still get the PDF but while I wouldn't mind paying $119 on a nice, huge book, paying $60 for a PDF which might get lost in a hard drive failure or something I just can't bring myself to do.

    D&D 4E 4E in Car-speak: "No Sale"

Totally agreed here. As much as I love what I've seen of 4e so far, if I had a group like this there's no way I'd pressure them to change, even as tired of 3.5 as I am. Of course, there's also the possibility they'll look at your 4e books and want to change of their own accord.

D&D 4E Keith Baker on 4E! (The Hellcow responds!)

I'm not talking the stat block format, I'm talking about the design process. As Keith mentioned, the writers *have* to fully stat out every NPC to make sure they don't make mistakes. Given the cumbersome process that involves in 3e, that's hours or even days they could have spent editing the...

D&D 4E Keith Baker on 4E! (The Hellcow responds!)

I actually think it is a reason to switch. Why? Because with less time being spent by the writers on making sure every NPC is properly statted, it means we're more likely to see better products.

    Pathfinder 1E Paizo Annoucement!

I don't think anybody is saying it sucked. Just: a) It needs improvement. It's not a perfect system, and we've had 8 years to figure it out. b) We're tired of it. I stopped buying 3.5 stuff (except FR stuff for fluff reasons) two years ago. It's played out for a lot of us. Is it for everybody...

    Pathfinder 1E Pramas on Paizo

I think this issue is mostly noticible in small towns where there just aren't many groups to chose from. If there's only one RPG group available in the whole town, only one of which willing to DM and they can't agree on a system, the group could break up. Logically, though, they'd find a...

Paragon Path names revealed by Jonathan Tweet!

I'm guessing I'll dislike the Paragon Paths and Epic Destinies in the core books just lie I dislike the prestige classes in 3 and 3.5 Core Books. My favourite prestige classes came from setting-specific books, like FRCS and Magic of Faerun.

    D&D 4E 10 Things I Like in 4e

    1. D&D Insider. 2. Improvements in encounter building. 3. New 1/1/1 movement. 4. Extended 'sweet spot', if it lives up to it. 5. racial feats 6. No more save-or-die. 7. Improved level 1's 8. at will/per encounter abilities 9. Dragonborn 10. 'Powers' for everybody.

Is this what you went through with 3rd Edition?

See, I don't see it as an uncomfortable position. To me, making the game world is part of the fun.

Is this what you went through with 3rd Edition?

This actually helps me understand where Psion's coming from, actually. Because this is exactly it, in my experience I've never used the default setting. Never used the default cosmology except back in late 2e when I was a Planescape nut. Never used the default gods, the default races, the...

Is this what you went through with 3rd Edition?

Because you're not buying a setting book, you're buying a rulebook? Everybody else who DMs and isn't using purchased setting books (like FR, or Eberron), has to make up their own setting, why can't you? I, in my entire time DMing D&D 3e and 3.5e, referenced older artwork for both monsters and...

Points of Light approach to setting

One way is the same way it happened in the Dark Ages IRL. A giant empire or kingdom once ruled over the known lands, but collapsed and the kingdoms that rose up in its' place are struggling to survive without the trade and diplomatic support they once enjoyed.

Is this what you went through with 3rd Edition?

Yep, I saw all the same complaints with 3e. This particular site was the last refuge of those who looked forward to 3e. Everywhere else, it was doom and gloom and end of the world. (And yes, Psion, I saw people say the exact same thing when 3e came out.) There will be people who don't like 4e...

    Swordmage-> annoying...

I'm guessing that it's being added in FR since the class is being introduced in a FR novel. Seems a pretty straight-forward connection there. People read the novel, decide they want to play that, where do you think they'd look? FR of course. I do agree that I hope it's added to another book for...

    Pathfinder 1E Paizo Annoucement!

Really, I don't see the problem some people are having. Sure, I'm pro-4E, but I fully accept that a percentage of current 3.5e players won't want to switch. This gives them an option, and Paizo the chance to keep making money. It's not like it's adding a split to the market that wasn't already...

    Gleemax Q&A

Really, the blogging site I use most often is Livejournal. Why? Because it's simple to go to my friends page to see what those I'm watching have posted, and most of the screen is used up in showing all but what the author decided to put behind a link. In Gleemax, I look at my 'view favorites'...

If 4th Edition didn't use the "D&D" moniker...

As others have said, if everything else was the same except the D&D brand (the publicity, rules revelations, the particular developers, etc.), then definitely I'd buy it.

    Pathfinder 1E Paizo Annoucement!

While they won't be getting my money (I was actually planning on subscribing if they decided to switch to 4e, despite my dislike for premade adventures, just because the quality of what I've seen of their work looks so good), I do hope this works well for the company. I'll most definitely look...

Corebooks in June!: News from the Alliance Retailer Summit

Hopefully we'll see some confirmation, or denial, of this from Wizards. (I'm kind of hoping denial. I can only afford one book a month in any case, and I don't want to have to wait 2 months longer than the rest of the community to see them.)
