    D&D 4E Dark Sun Conversion to 4E

I always liked Dark Sun and I'm quite happy of all this talk about the setting. I' m planning to start my first campaign in 4e on Athas, and I'm quite glad of all these good ideas about the same points I'm trying to fix in order to be playable. My take is: 1) Pre Prism Pentad setting ONLY...

I also think it's a case of Heucuva / Huecuva.

Caina is correct, and it's the one I prefer, since it's what I'm accustomed to since primary school. But bear in mind that "correct" in this context is relative, because, obviously, D&D is only inspired on Dante's work (and much more) and not a faithful representation of the cosmology therein...

Well, because that's the correct name of the hell region in Dante's Inferno that the layer is modeled on. It's one of the four zones the ninth and last circle of hell in Dante's work. So named because Cain was punished there, so Cania is just a mispelling.

Quote this entirely. Well, I like Glasya much more than the Hag, anyway. Plus another hellish realm under a she-devil, makes for more variety. What I'd really like is to get back Baelzebub from it's lame slug form. I believed that was changed long before 3ed. Anyway Caina is much better...

Then, good luck with drow. :P For that matter, "succubus" comes from latin, precisely from "sub" = under and "cubo" = (I) lie, so it more or less means "someone that lies under another", a clear referral to the seductor role of those demons. So, it's a sort of compound name, too. And...

If it's taken from Dante's The Divine Comedy, then it's Italian, not French. By the way, it means more or less "evil claws".

mah - leh - BRAN - keh. That's it's correct pronunciation in Italian, even if the official pronunciation given by the designers in an audio file I got from WotC site was quite different (and horribly wrong). ;)

D&D 4E My First 4E Game: Disappointing. Yours? (UPDATED with player feedback)

If they HAD to stop playing D&D4e in order to play Diablo II, THEN maybe D&D4e wasn't videogamey enough for them! ;););)

    D&D 4E Pre-4e adventures ripe for conversion?

I really hope WotC considers converting and re-releasing old classic adventures to the new edition. After a whole edition gap, I'm sure there are lots of players that just heard of some all time classics everybody talks about but never played them. I, myself, never played the original...

WotC killed Paizo and took their stuff.

Our (as in ENWorld's) tribute to Gary

Thank you very much Michael for the nice gesture. My only contribution to D&D was no more that some GMed games and maybe bringing some one into the game. Still, I think D&D had been a part of my life, and the source of hours of enjoyment. I can only say that I'm honoured to be displayed in...

Is the 15 minute adventuring day now the 90 minute adventuring day?

In most 2 player fighter games you build "power" for each successful hit agains an opponent, which you can use to power specail moves. In the Super Robot Wars series of strategical games for each hit you build "spirit" points. Some of the most powerful attacks (usually the finishing moves)...

Is the 15 minute adventuring day now the 90 minute adventuring day?

Also, you don't "regain" AP with a short rest. You start the day with 1 AP, then you build them when you meet some "milestones" in the adventure (I read that it should be one milestone every 2 encounters, but I guess the DM has complete power in determining what a milestone is). If you use an...

Is the 15 minute adventuring day now the 90 minute adventuring day?

True, but still, the more you adventure, the more you get. If you stored 3 AP, you are quite willing to keep adventuring and use them in the next encounters, because you will waste them otherwise. Plus, I don't actually know whether there are some higher level feats or powers that grant you the...

Is the 15 minute adventuring day now the 90 minute adventuring day?

From what I know, the biggest incentive to continuous adventuring in 4e are Acrion Points. Since you accrue them by passing encounters, and lose them all when you take an extended rest, a party must judge whether losing all those extra actions or get back their dailies. Sure, AP are a pure...

    D&D 4E Veteran, balanced group gives 4E a whirl

Thank you very much. :D:D:D Burning Plague was the very first 3e adventure I ran and I'm quite attached to it!! I remember that I misinterpretated some of the rules and the ferret outright killed a PC on the first run. :P:P

    D&D 4E Veteran, balanced group gives 4E a whirl

Really nice write up. As a side note, I'm not bothered at all about "gamist speex" in my games. First, It's ALWAYS been done, since I play, in a way or the other. Second, I can well expect for seasoned adventurers to develop a "field jargon" in order to be more effective. Real life soldiers...
