Reason 'squares' is better than 'feet': the metric system

In Japan they measure houses in tatami, which aren't even square!!! OMG, D&D 4E IS SO ANIME!!! :p

Reason 'squares' is better than 'feet': the metric system

"You know how they call a 10 foot pole in Amsterdam?" "How?" "Royale pole" Sorry. It HAD to be done.

Trip is an Encounter Power now

Just some random thoughts: 1) In the (not many, I admit) martial arts combats I saw, I rarely saw anyone trying to trip his opponents more than once in the fight. Basically, like someone else more expert than me altready said, it was much like a) the trip worked, then fight was over because the...

    Spell components gone

Well, since clothes, weapons and equipment seem to step with the character, I can happily presume that the chair and thing step back and forth with him. Or more easily, that if a character is "anchored" some way in our workd (tied to a chair or chained to a wall) then he simply is unable to do...

    Spell components gone

I think that eladrins actually do not teleport in the usual sense of the world, but basically "step"into faerie, walk a little, and then step back, so, tying them to a chair and gag them should be more than enough.

    Power Sources

Well, I can easily imagine monsters and situations where martial powers will be partially or totally ineffective, such as ghosts and other incorporeal creatures (of course, just speculating, I don't actually know how they are handled in 4e). And I can't imagine how teleport, plane traveling and...

    Implementation of Long-Term Damage

I like the "for every time you go to negative HP you decrease your maximum Healing Surges by one. These get back at the rate of 1 per extended rest" that someone suggested, for starters. At least it will make continuous adventuring over several days make you need to get back to a city and have...

Order of the Stick - A tribute

Order of the Stick confirms in being a comic strip just as deep as it is funny. Great heartfelt tribute without being excessive.

Saving throws are a coin toss?

One of the things I read somewhere (correct me if I'm wrong) is that in 4E they are trying to get away from previous editions assumptions that low level spells will get unuseful when you go up in character level. So, you will always get some use of a 1st level spell even if you are an Epic...

    Multiclassing Moritorium

In a "standard" group, I think true multiclassing should not be so useful, except for background purposes. With standard I mean one where every role is covered, which will always be the more effective way to handle adventuring. The fifth or sixth character could be a multiclass one, even if...

D&D 4E SRM Marking Marked and Other 4Eisms

Honestly, I think it's too early to debate on whether a fighter can "out-mark" a paladin or not. The article says that: IF you CAN put another mark on a creature, THEN the new mark supercedes the older. It does NOT say HOW and WHEN a new mark can be put. I expect the PHB to give more specific...

Classes ... Much Less Flexible than Advertised

I really think must of the problems people see in the 4e Rogue are based on specilation without sufficient data. I think the Rogue as posted in the preview as a sort of "vanilla" Rogue. Only few weapons listed? Well, I'm more than sure that there are lots of feats to add other weapons to that...

    The Inverse Trek Law?

This sort of reasoning applies to grogn... *ahem* players, too. 1e - Hey! What a fantastic and original game! It's got everything I wanted! It's MY game. 2e - Bah! They changed everything that was nice pointlessly! It's not MY game anymore. I'll play something else until nostalgia brings me...

Seriously? Spellcasters will not be able to have many spell choices?

From what I've seen until now it seems to me that: - Many low-power, short-duration spells and effect will be moved in the at will or per encounter category. These will probably encompass mainly damaging, tactical or otherwise offensive spells, like Daze, Magic Missile, and such. Low powered...

Keep on Shadowfell pre gen PC's

I don't get it. why don't people playing in groups with more than 5 players just wait a bit before buying the adventure, so that they have the PHB in hands and can make all che characters they like?

D&D 4E 4e Heal info in new Confessions article

Healing that depends on the TARGET creature more than on the HEALER? That's great!! It could solve most of the problems tied to old style Light / Moderate / Serious / Critical healing spells!! If it's used throughout the system, a mechanic for (just speculation from now on), say, Cure Light...

    D&D 4E How would you re-envision Darksun with 4e?

Yes, I was only talking about the timeline repercussions, not the adventure quality per se...

    D&D 4E How would you re-envision Darksun with 4e?

I completely agree. I'll go even farther: Dark Sun jumped the shark the moment the VERY FIRST adventure was published!!! The original boxed set had a lot of flavour and potential, but it hasn't EVER been explored by official adventures. It's like the first adventure of Ravenloft had Stradh...

    Linking planes to power sources

Following this game, I'd rather have: Divine - Celestial Realms (after all, gods grant spells to clerics) Psi - Astral Sea (Astral Body seems a quintessential psi power to me) Far Realm - Wild Magic (whenever that comes out).
