There are a lot of indie TTRPG products that make use of public domain art- the good ones curate their choices to make the colors and/or styles fit one-another well.

The physical versions are very nice! I was impressed with the build quality for such large TTRPG books. Good binding and yeah, fancy ribbons :'D

They've released like... 10 or 12 versions of the core book, each time I think little somethings are changed? Or maybe it's just reorganization? But I assume you mean like, a full DCC 2e?

Re: the possibility of missing, you can also crit... and, more importantly, there are lots of ways to get advantage/bonuses on the attack- if you're upcasting, it's worth it. Advantage, or using inspiration to make sure you hit.

I use a house rule like this. Mine requires a skill check to successfully cast- on a failure, you wasted your action. Arcane spells - Arcana Primal spells - Nature Divine spells - Religion DC to cast is 10 + 2xSpell Level Fail by 5 or more = scroll is burned up Nat 1, Spell Scroll Mishap Table

Best new "heroic fantasy" ttrpg is gonna be tough between DS!, Daggerheart (I don't know too much about it), and 13th Age 2e (huge fan of 1e).

Yeah there have been April communications re: development. They're working on two new classes and two starter adventures, one of which is The Delian Tomb :) They're also doing some stuff re: Warfare. It's a huge update, there was A LOT of text that I wasn't going to read :'D Oh and a few days...

I mean, it's still frequently referenced in stuff like Lower Decks, Shaxs fighting the ghosts of his past "but what will you do against all your victims? All the Cardassian warriors getting their revenge." "they weren't warriors, they were occupiers!" and "Fighting fascism was a full-time job!"...

The only pushback I’d see from this is “what about anti magic fields?!” Well, that’s not true, I can see pushback just based on it not being an intrinsic character improvement… but still, that’s a very cool idea.

Gritty realism as written can be a pain. Add some flexibility. I run with 1hr short rests and 2+ day Long Rests. Just decoupling long rests from sleep, whether you make it 2 days or 7 or (as I do) variable, will help the one-n-done adventuring day balance issues if you don't want to pack 5+...

I bought some stuff from them a few years ago because it was well-regarded, they sent a fun little personalized note-scrap along with it that I kept on my keyboard.. now it feels dirty :cry:
