Mearls talks about his inspiration for the 4e classes

Very cool... and speaking of adventures, what's this I hear of some kind of Keep on the Borderlands style module in the works? I'm still waiting for the dern-blasted distributors to DISTRIBUTE my copy of the HMb.

Mearls talks about his inspiration for the 4e classes

I've been reading through the original Robert E. Howard Conan stuff fairly recently, and it seems that in almost every story, Conan makes use of a dagger -- and just as often, he ends up losing it. As for the chain hauberks and so forth, you're right -- whenever Conan was working as a...

Mearls talks about his inspiration for the 4e classes

Conan rarely went heavily armored. He usually went nearly naked or lightly covered. Also, Conan as the axe-weilding maniac wasn't really how he was presented in the original Robert E. Howard stories. More than anything, he used a dagger -- simply because it was convenient. However, Conan...

I guess I'm just excited to have something to be excited about. Since the debut of 4e, I haven't really made any non-4e RPG purchases other than OOP material.

Getting OSRIC/AD&D into FLGS and publishers

I think C&C is a good game system, a fun game system. But I believe that its proponents of "easy" AD&D 1e compatibility are exaggerations, and can lead to frustration among consumers. That hurts C&C. I'm sorry that my experience of converting 1e AD&D adventures to run with C&C RAW has run into...

Why Did No One Tell me? Ultimate Toolbox!

Looks like it is a great product. I'm not paying that much for a .pdf, however. When it comes down to $20, I'll bite.

So, for those of you who have it (my LGS hasn't gotten theirs yet from Diamon [?] I think), is Basic playable as a full game? Also, is all of the interior art re-used stuff from previous HackMaster stuff? Normally that would bother me, but for a thick book that is sell MSRP for $20 it's not...

Getting OSRIC/AD&D into FLGS and publishers

I think the best thing to do would be to stock up on old AD&D 1st edition books and putting them on the same shelf as OSRIC based modules. There are still lots of 1e DMGs and PHBs out in the secondary market -- and despite the fact that some eBayers or online stores try to sell them for around...

    No comments about the contests

I'm a DDI subscriber for right now, and had no idea there were any contests. Is all this info located in the forums over there or something?

    I love AD&D

The D&D/AD&D products released before 1983 will always have a special place in my heart.

    4e adventures for older D&D

For what it's worth, I superimposed Keep on the Shadowfell with Keep on the Borderlands, with the Shadowfell Keep taking the place of the Borderlands Keep (as if it had been lost in a war some time ago) and the Borderlands Keep inhabitants transplanted to Winterhaven. Quasqueton and the Caverns...

4e 3rd Party Products You Would Have Bought

None of the ones listed really interest me as far as fantasy/D&D 4e gaming goes.

I'm hoping that my local store will have it available on the release date. Are there any other tie-in products coming out? One-legged dwarf miniatures? Honor dice? T-shirts? Coupons? Hubcaps of shame?

OK, here's a few more questions" How hard will it be to convert monsters from the HoB's for compatibility with HMb5? I'm sure the HMb5 will include several monsters, but I've got over 8 frikkin' volumes of HM4 on the shelf that I'd like to use as well... at least until the new HM5 Hacklopedias...

Mark, is the book black and white or color? With a $20.00 price for 200 pages, I'm guessing black and white. Also -- who is doing the cover art for the Advanced version?
