    Hackmaster

OK, I've seen the Erol Otus cover and I'm pretty giddy with anticipation for this book. 192 pages, June 30th release date. I wish it came in a box with dice and a crayon, but heck, I can deal.

    Hackmaster

I'm running a HackMaster game at Mark's old stomping grounds. I'm looking forward to seeing what the new system is like.

I’m Thinking of Giving 4e Another Shot

Along the lines of what people are saying about "flumph" and the effects of powers, I've been playing around with using the D&D 4e system for a sci-fi style game, using the exact same rules and powers, just switching around the "fluff" or non-rules justification for the powers. For example, a...

Is this module available for DDI subscribers?

    I've DMed 4e and I PREFER DMing: A poll

I've DMed Moldvay/Cook Basic edition, AD&D 1st edition, AD&D 2nd edition, D&D 3rd edition, HackMaster, Castles & Crusades and D&D 4th edition. From a game prep perspective, as well as rules balance, I prefer 4th edition. From a roleplaying and campaigning perspective, 4th edition isn't really...

DDI Changes - PH3 Previews! New price

Movie tickets in my town are $5. Really cheap, I know! But the RPG cost vs. Movie cost comparison has been floating around for years, and it's never held water. It's like saying "Oh, well you play Scrabble for 3 hours, that's the value of a movie ticket for each person each time you play!"

DDI Changes - PH3 Previews! New price

Yeah, I don't understand why an RPGA membership doesn't just come with the DDI. And as for the RPGA/Game Day/Delve/etc modules and so forth -- well, it's free/promotional stuff anyway. Might as well make them available to paying subscribers.

DDI Changes - PH3 Previews! New price

Does anyone know if the gameday adventures are available for download on DDI? I find the site very challenging to navigate.

The 3 Core Books plus THIS ONE BOOK are all you can use to game--What's the one book?

I guess I was thinking about books in order of their availability (their real-time release dates during different edition periods) and their rules compatibility. LGG is rules-light and could be used for any edition, really. The same for the WoG box. But as much as I loved both the WoG and...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder RPG Core Book - Cover Posted

I don't know what his first piece for D&D was, but I know he was doing some black and white pieces as far back as late 2nd edition. He also did the cover for the L3 module.

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder RPG Core Book - Cover Posted

This cover -- as well as the one he did with the green dragon for WotC -- is great. I hope that Paizo does what WotC won't (or can't) do: offer us a poster of this cover art!

Free Keep on the Shadowfell at Wizards.com

This is pretty cool. I felt that KotSF was a great introductory adventure module for DMs and players new to 4e. Also, the fact that it strongly resembled Keep on the Borderlands appealed to me. I did think the cover price was pretty steep, but if it's a free download now, that's a smart move...

Will sales of Arcane Power prove WotC right?

FWIW, my questions about the sales of Arcane Power have nothing to do with the "edition of rules" and everything to do with the marketing of the edition. The game itself is quite solid. The marketing of the game, especially in comparison to the marketing of third edition, has been weak from the...

Will sales of Arcane Power prove WotC right?

Even though the PHB2 was pirated, WotC claimed that the book sold out of its first printing and they were rushing to meet retailer demand for a second printing. Now that WotC is no longer selling .pdf files -- and therefore, there will be no OEF versions to pirate* -- do you think that sales of...

Arcane Power: How long before the pirated copy appears

Ironically, seeing someone using a copy of the pirated Character Generator -- and knowing that Arcane Power will be added to the legitimate version -- made me more interested in subscribing to the DDI.

    GTS 2009 D&D Seminar - the Rouse discusses D&D

I'm probably not going to be buying any more 4e books, but I'd be a sucker for a good D&D t-shirt, especially one that had the art from the Character Sheet folder on it. Maybe even a D&D logo hat. Especially a "wizard" bathrobe. Then every morning I could wake up and put on my robe and wizard hat.

Exclusive interview WotC President Greg Leeds

Ever get the feeling that the original plans for the DDI was actually a meta-RPG? Whenever I look at the DDI advertisement in the back of my hardcopy books, I just have to laugh. Great Moradin's beard, what a cluster5%*c!

Forked Thread: How much does WotC policies matter to your enjoyment of the game

The policies don't change my enjoyment of the game, but they do have an effect on how much of their product (if any) I will buy.
