how do you fight gut bacteria? it's too small to interact with in any meaningful way (other then by killing its host, i guess).

this is, in the most technical sense possible, correct. it's also irrelevant, because "creature" in this context is a mechanical term to which these things do not apply. edit: it is also just not really useful. you wouldn't say the druid would be paralyzed or dominated if the fish were targeted...

RAW? it works, no question. as @GMMichael said, the spell only targets a single creature, and the artificer is physically incapable of targeting the druid anyway. balance wise i don't even think it's that bad - it requires a daily resource (albeit one that gets fairly cheap at higher levels) and...

to be perfectly fair, i can think of a few video games that practically (if not literally) cannot be modified by anyone but the developers. i wouldn't necessarily call all of them bad games, but i'd certainly say their inability to be modified leaves them worse off.

i think it's mainly because the feat lets you use 2 weapons (one held in each hand) as a spellcasting focus. i don't think it'd break anything if you let it be a different fighting style, but it does change the vibe a bit.

i think technically RAW you would be, since your mount is using its movement, not you. but RAI and logically speaking i'd say no, since even if you aren't using your movement, you are still MOVING, just using a mount.

you'd probably want some way to offset the upgrades, then, considering otherwise they'd just be better then other heritage gifts. maybe you need to roll to get a chance to use them or the gift and paragon gift start weaker then your average gift/paragon gift but when upgraded become better then...

easiest way to solve this is just to have a rule like "monsters of CR X+ treat their attacks as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance/immunity" tbh

if we're only counting official dnd, then 5e. if we're counting derivatives, either 4e or pf2e (not really sure which i prefer). i'll let you decide if they're fighting for 1st or 2nd.

i mean, if you don't mind breaking the flow of the game and you can't think of a way to clearly foreshadow it, you could always tell the players as a DM that going to a particular location might result in combat. it's technically metagaming, but in your case it might be better then making half...
