Daggerheart "Description on Demand" a GM DON'T

Sounds like you spent a lot of time trying and largely failing to find a game that suits your GMing style. Sorry to hear that.

Except in the example the players said they were pulled out of the perspective of their character.

Daggerheart "Description on Demand" a GM DON'T

Is Justin Alexander a proponent of storygames? I'm not deeply familiar with his discourse. Mostly just heard of the guy and his website.

The second can have their ice cream. But Alexander is under no obligation either to serve it to them, or sing it's praises.

Fair enough. Insisting on said contribution sounds just as unpleasant to me.

D&D General The Player's Quantum Ogre: Warlock Pacts

Faith enough. I never said or meant cartoonish, but I do value the sim and fiction first approaches over the gamist one, pretty much every time I can practically get away with it (and following the warlock class narrative is one of those times). I won't apologize for that opinion.

Daggerheart "Description on Demand" a GM DON'T

I have specifically told a GM that, and would have no issue if I received this response from a player. At all. Even if the details in question pertained to their PC.

I would be very interested to know what games you generally run.

    D&D 5E (2024) Rate D&D 2024

I don't see how that doesn't make using a scale at all completely meaningless.

D&D 5E (2024) NPCs, and the poverty of the core books

Yup. I was able to figure this stuff out in TSR's day just fine.

D&D 5E (2024) NPCs, and the poverty of the core books

Perhaps the NPCs should play smarter. Like show up in, say, a party.

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

Gary was inconsistent. It is known and I think it can be safely dismissed.

Yup. I'm still playing 5e. Houserules and 3pp or not. We can still talk about 5e together.

I thought we weren't allowed to characterize any part of a game as "lazy design"? Seems a little uncharitable.

Don't we already have Game of Theseus? I've always operated under that assumption.

D&D General The Player's Quantum Ogre: Warlock Pacts

Love to see the DM side of those almost certainly player-instigated discussions.

D&D General The Player's Quantum Ogre: Warlock Pacts

I noticed how your description of my opinion is substantially less flattering to me than mine. Also less accurate.

Well, that picture is of a women in the modern era.
