    D&D 5E (2024) The 4 Classes I Would Not Play 1-20 In 5.5

Since you are creating content without assuming a rogue will be in the party, you aren’t going to put high DC skill checks on a critical path. Maybe you miss some loot or can’t avoid the odd fight, but overall, it doesn’t matter because it can’t matter. NB, I’ve never liked thieves/rogues in...

    D&D 5E (2024) The 4 Classes I Would Not Play 1-20 In 5.5

If there are six PC they can cover all the important proficiencies even if they only have four each. Rogue extra proficiencies are only useful in a small party.

Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes of the Borderlands - First Impressions

Even if you didn’t own that, it boils down to “do you want to introduce new players to the game?” If you don’t, there isn’t much reason to buy this. I’m buying it because I have grandchildren.

D&D General Why do we color-code Dragons?

Yeah, comes from 3rd edition. Maybe the introduction of dragonborn caused mainline D&D to forget it?

D&D General Why do we color-code Dragons?

I've come across that in several adventures, going back as far as third edition. No special abilities, but colour and markings indicate tribe or draconic affiliation.

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Infinite Staircase?

14d+1 would give a more natural spread. Nah players want to see what happens. Even 6d6 damage is unlikely to be significant in 5e. There is a good chance they can bypass the whole puzzle using Misty Step, Jump or Fly. I would work out the stats for the trees too - destroying them is an option.

It did, but they were all Luis.

Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes of the Borderlands - First Impressions

I expect this is a regulatory requirement, since it includes depictions of violence. Also reading age is an issue. No point in selling it to someone who isn’t a fluent reader unless they have help. I intend to use it with 9 year olds - the age people might actually be interested in starting D&D...

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Infinite Staircase?

I would certainly use the original radius and damage (but no save for half). The trees aren't going to evolve to shred themselves! Or change the damage type to poison, changing the save to CON. I would probably stick with the auto-fall if players are walking on the ground (since they should be...

D&D General Why do we color-code Dragons?

That would just have a low DC (5) rather than advantage.

D&D General The NPC writing session

Why keep a dog and bark yourself? They are all DMs already, and spend most of their time doing that stuff.

Spoilers Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

I don't think they are allowed to show the good stuff!

    So, life on Mars...

Studding the "handedness" of certain organic molecules could give an indication, should we ever reach the point of having a significant sample size.

Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes of the Borderlands - First Impressions

I was thinking of making them for myself, because that’s fun. Making things for other people is work!

Could make them. I have a cereal box and paints. I think there might be a laminator somewhere too.

Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Season 3 Viewing (Spoilers)

Which would have made sense if it had been the final episode. They clearly thought they weren’t getting renewed! Flashbacks to Blake’s 7, where everyone thought they were cancelled until a new series was mentioned by an announcer after the “last” episode.

Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes of the Borderlands - First Impressions

True, but when it comes to making ones for other classes, not all are equally viable. Barbarian would fit easily. But trying to fit an explanation of wildshape on to the card is not so simple.

Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Season 3 Viewing (Spoilers)

I think the line was deliberately mumbled. It's not an Easter egg if you don't make some effort to hide it. The whole episode plot was Who-ish though: As an episode, I thought it was weak and self-indulgent. As a show finale, I thought it did a decent job of wrapping things up, and I've seen...

D&D General Why wouldn't you run a Dark Sun game?

Which was only a problem because the user base was so small. So it's just as true to say TSR failed because they failed to sufficiently expand their user base.
