    weapon help

There may be a way around it though. Not knowing things by heart it may be iffy rules wise but you could try: A dragon mag months had polearms and feats, reproduced in Dragon Annual 1 (which is what 5 years old now?). One allowed you to use the other end of a polearm as a bludgeoning weapon...

    Call of the Twilight Defender

You need to explain the nature of the HP gain a bit better because as I read it, there is an argument that the HP gain is permanent. If the HP are temporary HP, then I don't think Temp HP stack, since they are from the same source (At least the same spell by-product, RC pg 72).

    falling object damage maximum

That is what mean: RC states: no matter what 20d6 is the max. To exaggerate slightly: 2 million tonnes from 159,867 feet = 20d6 damage Which is not what the SRD states (at least by my reading and the pedantry of where the "max at 20d6" sits in the sentence structure).

    falling object damage maximum

I mostly to agree with this. As it reads the 20d6 max falling damage does not include the weight of an item. The 20d6 max is referenced withing the distance falling damage sentence. Note that if someone falls, the max damage is 20d6, which suggests some effort at consistency. However I read if...

    Turn/Rebuke Undead vs Animate Undead

It's not in the SRD but I thought that opposed commands become a CHA-check or the like to see how has command (similar to charm person, of course that may be what I'm thinking of anyway). Just to double check: the Cleric can channel negative energy?

Trouble at Durbenford - advice? Also, mounts.

It may not be specifically spelled out, but I'd consider the tiger an extension of the Knight and thus say the challenge is lost. If after the battle? Well I don't know much about knights, but most forms of chivalry don't take kindly to eating an unconscious enemy (even via the tiger). The foe...

    Magic items

Those rules should have had "For the DM only!!!!" in big letters. Personally I think the cost to make something with such restrictions should be increased. The supposed inconvenience of the limits really becomes a safety valve against the item being used against you somehow (or even the rest of...

Making a 5th level goblin respectably competent?

Try (SRD): Magic Aura, level 1 for sorc, lasting 1 day/level, focus = silk cloth I think the PHB name is Nystal's M A. Technically while a holy symbol does not radiate magic, I like the idea that the holy symbol could radiate magic, and maybe even register on the detect ## alignment spells (not...

OMG! The PCs are murderers! Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh

The Sahuagin ate other Sahaugin? I thought they only ate other sentient beings (mind you I played the 1e module shortly after it originally came out, so it's been a loooooong time )

    Dm

If you have access to Excel or some other spreadsheet program, get it to generate numbers for dice rolls that you will often need (d20 for D&D 3+) These can be used for things like PC rolls for uncalled for spot/listen checks (although I prefer to have PCs roll a set of these before hand)...

    Wotc takes on ... Optimization?!?

It was a 3.0 book, released shortly after the new edition came out. it was, IMHO, okay. Had a few decent ideas that I hadn't seen before. I've looked/skimmed at it a couple of times after the initial read, but it is currently hiding in some out of the way corner unused. I think it was aimed...

    Seeking a little advice

If the PCs can't breathe underwater: Under the suffocation rules in the RC a standard action reduces the time you can hold your breathe by 1 round. Casting a spell with verbal requirements could also reduce the time by 1 round. There is nothing saying that casting a spell requires speaking a...

    Casters death

As noted by someone else, the physical body hasn't moved out of spell range. Isn't there a ruling somewhere that the spell only has to meet the conditions at time of casting (the FAQ maybe)? It does not matter so much with conditions after the casting. Personally this needs to be judged on a...

    PC Problem

One thing to note, when diplomacy makes someone your trusted friend, there is no reason that someone who would sacrifice their sibling would not stab you in the back if it suited them. I have a quote in my house rules about Dip: Assassin: My master has decreed that you are to die a horrible...

    How to defeat KNOCK!!!

True DM fiat = infinite hardness. But I've seen a number of comments about people complaining an adamantine toothpick is able to break through doors because the metal defeats low hardness.

    How to defeat KNOCK!!!

From the Rules Compendium: Ineffective Weapons The DM can rule that certain weapons just can’t effectively deal damage to certain objects. I'd judge toothpicks to doors/walls to be one such situation. Greatswords I'm inclined to say the same thing too (short swords definitely but I haven't had...

A wee bit of PC design...

Either the Complete Divine of Arcane had a revised Geomancer. I haven't compared the two but you should if possible to check out if they added any extra drifts. My 1st thoughts was that druid shapechange would have been a nice fit, but you would loose too much trying to make the shapechange...

    Armor Spikes with enchant Defending

for a source, quoting the SRD (emphasis mine): Defending: A defending weapon allows the wielder to transfer some or all of the sword’s enhancement bonus to his AC as a bonus that stacks with all others. As a free action, the wielder chooses how to allocate the weapon’s enhancement bonus at the...
