Curious, why couldn't you damage it with melee or ranged attacks? Swarms should take half damage from those attacks.

4e could very well be the longest lasting edition to date. Incidently, which edition has lasted the longest thus far? IIRC, 2e was 11 years. Is that the longest or was 1e longer? My 1e dates are pretty fuzzy by now.

Extend it, yes, but still not infinitely. You can create a new edition and continue the subscription model into the new edition. You simply can't beat the hype that happens when a new edition is announced (some negative of course but by and large mostly positive).

I guess it depends on how they do it I suppose. I was thinking of leader-y based on possibly moving/sliding them, healing them along with allies and so forth. Either way I think it would be total coolness.

Regarding the Necormancer, role may very well depend on what type of necromancer they are modeling it on. In previous editions, necromancers could mean wizard or they could mean cleric. If its the former, then I doubt it would be a controller - my guess would be leader in the form of minion...
