CE = things like the Primordials and Demons, who want to destroy creation. A CE entity lives for destruction, not just for personal gain at the expense of others (Evil). That doesn't mean it cannot collaborate with others who share that goal and get organised to do that destruction efficiently.
That's your opinion.
Dozens of other successful RPGs on the market use the same division between rules for PCs and rules for NPCs. Trying to extrapolate rules to gameworld physics seems to be peculiar to D&D, and that's because 3.X made the highly unusual move of saying NPCs used the same rules...
The bard almost spills his drink laughing, before planting his index finger squarely on the addled barbarian's forehead.
"Hrothgar, you old fool! With an axe, you can cleave!"
Still laughing at the stunned expression on the barbarian's face, he pushes the old drunk back off his stool onto the...
If there was still a paladin code, would it be the same for each deity, or would each deity have a different code of conduct for their paladins?
Thematically, the latter makes more sense to me, but that would be a lot of page space used on one aspect of a single class, and furthermore it...
From the tiers preview, we know that a 14th level character has more than 7 feats.
So 1,3,5,7,9,11,13 isn't enough (it's only 7). That leaves 1,2,4,6,8,10,12,14 as the most likely progression.
Question:
Do those who dislike minions also dislike scenes in books of movies where the hero(es) defeat multiple guards/thugs/etc in rapid succession, but still taking time to parry their blows as if they were credible threats, but then when they reach a named villain it takes them several...
Based on this excerpt, the vampire spawn must have been an artifact of an older version of the 4E rules.
Minions no longer have hit points. They die on any hit, no matter how little damage it does, but survive any miss, no matter how much damage a miss still does.
Considering that it's a divine ability, I'd more describe it as calling upon the power of your patron to bolster your attack. So I would be more suprised if it could not be applied to non-martial attacks.
I assume that one 'build' of paladin is based strength, just as we know rogues have (at...
Actually, all the death of a supporting NPC proves is that they had low enough hit points to be one-shot. It tells us nothing about the durability of the PCs.
And I'd argue that any character killed off purely for dramatic effect had better be an NPC if the DM wants anyone to turn up to the...
That's not what it says.
What it says is that most items just require a few minutes of experimentation.
Some items may be harder to identify, and may require an arcana check, or in really complex cases possibly even a quest for the players to fully understand the full potential (or danger) or...
I'm wondering whether residuum will turn out to be an actual substance, or merely a collective noun for the various ritual materials that can be reclaimed from one item to be used in the ritual to enchant another.
Let's see if i have this straight:
1) The assumed POL setting assumes that travel from the villager to the local city is hazardous, let alone between major cities.
2) Unless there is a major improvement over the corresponding real-world period of history, voyages by sea can result in loss of...
Are you kidding me?
People actually used that system?
*Boggle*
My experience has always been that magical loot is sorted it out in character, with most items being a no-brainer. Wizard gets spell staff, cleric and paladin discuss holy item, items may even change hands if something drops...
So 4E Healing potions work a bit like like Earthdawn booster potions, that use one of the drinker's daily recoveries but increase their recovery step...
ZOMG 4E is Earthdawn!! :p
I'm worried that the OP may be doomed to a great deal of disappointment with D&D in general, because no edition of D&D has ever supported Bildungsroman as part of the default setup. (Some attempts at level 0 have come close, but since that may still exist in 4E for all we know, it is not...
That still leaves you with one low defence. (There are three defences, each using the highest of two stats : Fort is Str or Con, Ref is Int or Dex, Will is Wis or Cha)
