    What, no Olympics thread?

Don't get me start on the men's vault . . . Evidently I could get a 9 in the Olympics because totally messing up is worth that much.

    Taking Care of RPG Books

I belive that books are meant to be used. However, I have gotten in the habit of watching a local used game store for good condition copies of books I no longer use, but previously used too much. (most 1e and 2e books on my shelf look like they've never been touched)

    What, no Olympics thread?

I think what would be very interesting to see is how many medals different countries are winning per $. Look at how much money is being spent both by governments and coporate sponsors and see how that reflects in medals count.

    Experience points

After a long discussion my group and I came to a realization - the whole reasoning behind XP rewards just doesn't appeal to us. So we now we use the very simple formula of every character gets 1000XP every week. This means that a characters needs to play as many sessions as his current level to...

What is the volume of a Fireball?

The volume of a sphere can be found by the formula: volume=4/3¶r3 (four thirds pi radius cubed)

Stats, how you come about it!

In our new game we started with a 32 point buy, but then allowed players to gain/lose points via a list of advantages/disadvantages (largely lifted from GURPS).

    Favorite Beer?

I am surprised at all the votes for Guiness, not that it isn't the best - it is - but because most people I know can't believe I drink it. :p

    Best Sorcerer Feats?

I'm a big fan of silent spell and still spell. Not only are they great for emergencies (like when you are bound and gagged) but used in combination you can cast a spell with very little chance of being noticed.

Too many cooks - the problem with Campaign Settings

Asimov's "Foundation" series are my all time favorite books. If anyone knows how to remove the memory having having read "The Second Foundation Trilogy" I would greatly appreciate it. (of couse then I might end up reading it again, argh!) With regards to the topic though its a lose-lose-lose...

Railroading on the linear plot wagon

Buzzardo, as a module writer is there not a very valuable piece of information to be gleaned from the aformentioned thread and your own statements? If modules (by definition according to you) must have railroading, and there are an enourmous number of gamers who don't like railroading, then...

Eberron action points in other D&D settings

Is this sarcasm? I have known plenty of games that have worked quite well without weapon speeds or ressurections.

    Prophetic Magic Items

Oil of Cure Light Wounds - not particularily more useful for healing, but much better (than the potion) for hurting undead. (I can never get zombies to drink my CLW potions ;) )

    Prophetic Magic Items

How about an arrow that on impact releases the spell Open/Close?

    Calling All Canadians!

I'm from Edmonton, I've always been from Edmonton. Favorite moment from history? That's hard. In terms of pride its got to be the women's hockey final in 2002 Olymplics. In terms of humour I pick the reaction of the Quebec government when a group of towns announced they would seperate from...

    The DM's Screen

I used to be obsessed with screens, but no more. This change has nothing to do with the screens themselves mind you (I own a 3.5 screen that sits flat whenever we play) but just a change in my attitude. Like some of the other posters here I have come to believe that having a barrier between...

What turns you off in a purchased adventure?

Just remembered another one that bugs me - villages, town and cities with inappropriate maps. Villages with more buildings than people. Cities with 1 building for every 100 people. Town with either problem.

Is West End Games d6Space any good?

Never played d6 space, but West End's d6 Star Wars was (IMO, in its time) the best RPG ever written. :D

Campaigns you hope to run someday before you die

Games I would like to run: 1. I would like someday for my wife to co-DM a game with me. As she only started playing seriously last year, and is still quite nervous I think this is a ways away. 2. I would like to run a game that lasts for many years (hopefully, but not necessarily in...

    Help with Collaborative Campaign Building

My group is just starting to do something similar to this. But rather than Dragon we got our inspiration from this series of articles. http://www.rpgtimes.net/rpgtimes/article_list.php?author_list_id=6

Are you stuck to a grid?

I use a dry erase board. When a fight's about to start I draw a rough aproximation of the area for the players. I redraw it as necceary to fit the situation, but it never is overly accurate. Quite frankly minis and the like just never seemed worth it to me.
