D&D General Explain Bounded Accuracy to Me (As if I Was Five)

Many AD&D first edition adventures included example or tournament characters. They can be a good reference to infer from. Two examples from G1-2-3: Against the Giants: Level 12 cleric has a mace +2, plate mail +2, shield +2, 2 potions of invisibility, potion of diminution, 2 potions of...

D&D General Explain Bounded Accuracy to Me (As if I Was Five)

I am not sure what edition(s) of D&D the OP is familiar with, but when anyone asks about why BA is good, I point back to mid-to high level 3.x D&D where attack bonuses, saving throw bonuses, skill bonuses, armor classes, and DCs would be in the 20s, 30s, or even 40s or higher. When you have a...

I make no assertion about the quality, just that the reference exists. ;)

How much RP set up should a DM do for players?

I think the point of Deadpool's commentary is he observes what he experiences and draws a comparison to a pop culture reference. You can't easily set that up for another person without knowing 1) what pop culture sources they have seen and remember, and 2) the path their brain will take to...

Not every piece of art you don't like was made by AI

There was an homage to it in the remastered AD&D 2nd edition PHB:

I think the writing will still be on paper come 2026 and well beyond. I will get a slice of humble pie ready for you! ;)

    Favorite Battle Map Maker?

To follow up, DungeonDraft does have lighting and doors in the software, and it can export maps in the UVTT format, but I have not used those functions. I prefer making a straightforward map and making walls, doors, and lighting manually in Foundry VTT.

    Favorite Battle Map Maker?

DungeonDraft has become a favorite for the last few years, but it really requires good assets to use, which usually are from Patreons.

WotC Vecna: Nest of the Evil Eye--Deets On The Prequel Adventure

Physical books are still the lion's share of D&D sales, and will be for some time. Digital exclusives will become more commonplace as we go forward, yes, but I do not expect digital to totally supplant physical for decades, if ever. Folks have been pronouncing the demise of print for some time:

D&D 5E (2014) What are the highlights of D&D 5th edition for you?

Two main mechanics stand out to me: Advantage/Disadvantage and Bounded Accuracy. Ditching most of the fiddly bonuses/penalties that could be a pain to track, and tamping down the numbers escalation game have both been a breath of fresh air to me.

    D&D General other possible elements?

Not exactly from myth or legend, but older editions of D&D had the Positive Energy Plane and the Negative Energy Plane connect with the 4 major elemental planes, as shown (from the AD&D Manual of the Planes): This created the Para-Elemental Planes, where the major elemental planes met: Smoke...

    D&D General I hate five-foot passages!

This is a dubious ruling, IMO. I had always read squeezing as being physically constrained by walls/floors/ceiling while moving through a smaller space and not something you could choose to do within your space. The penalties while squeezing certainly seem to support my interpretation (your...

    D&D General I hate five-foot passages!

Reading the door as a full 5 feet wide opening, I would say the slaad has no cover to the rogue, as the rogue has full view of one of the slaad's squares. See the DMG quote and illustration below. If the door is only as wide as shown on the map, then yes, half cover would apply.
