Ben Riggs: 'The Golden Age of TTRPGs is Dead'

Licensing last quarter was down 3% and continues the multi-quarter trend of downward movement so far that they stopped mentioning BG3 as an earner at all.

D&D 5E (2024) When are we getting announcements for 2026 books?

Building out the social system rather than the simple on-off switch they used would be excellent. Tiny chapter on the two sports Using their modern microadventure technique to demo magic school in D&D concepts Eberron would be a great model to follow for it

Ben Riggs: 'The Golden Age of TTRPGs is Dead'

I don't think in 2018 the D&D brand earned Hasbro more than 300 million (over 70 in Q1 over 80 in Q2), which is what it is on track for in 2025 without adjusting for the massive oversaturation during the holiday season - which will include Stranger Things boxed set and I expect the return to big...

D&D 5E (2024) When are we getting announcements for 2026 books?

With MtG revisiting Strixhaven I'm hoping we'll get an update to that D&D setting. Some of that book was really well done (all the non-adventure stuff)

Except sales are up from the release of 5e 2014. D&D is making more money for Hasbro than ever before and it is selling better in year one than the first several years of 2014

D&D 5E (2024) When are we getting announcements for 2026 books?

Yes, Shawn Levy has taken over the former P+ project but now at Netflix. Related, the Duffer Brothers (the other part of Stranger Things leadership) are exiting Netflix for Paramount+ (which still holds the movie rights and has said that they going to nearly double the amount of movies they put...

D&D 5E (2024) When are we getting announcements for 2026 books?

He and Teos (Alphastream) had discussions about leaning into environmental dystopia and iirc having the PCs be heroes rather than an everyone is awful, including the PCs tone.

    Does Anyone Care? (Cosmere RPG)

Anyway, I'm rather excited for plotweaver as a 5e adjacent system with more emphasis on social

    Does Anyone Care? (Cosmere RPG)

His rallying people against the TV series was rather significant. The bookcloaks used his videos as fuel for ridicule. He wasn't a major part of it and objected to every change, including those that showed a diverse people in a diverse land

    Does Anyone Care? (Cosmere RPG)

I'm very intrigued by this and have no concept of what Sanderson's about (except that he hated the Wheel of Time series and worked quite hard to help it fail).

They separated nurture and nature, they added unique actions for every monster (which 2024 wound up doing too, I think), they use luck rather than inspiration, and they have Doom. It's a solid system I wish more people would use or at least permit within a 5e table.

    D&D General Kara Tur 5e

My areas of study are more near east, west/central/south Asia than the east, but I could see a "Tea House Society" being a faction that supports those in need

D&D General Fall of Netheril- The Return of the Arcane Age Subsetting

Wasn't it Rawson who said that they get halfway through development on twice as many products as reach the shelves? There's a lot of content sitting that may not hit book sales numbers that could be released in other formats.

D&D 5E (2024) When are we getting announcements for 2026 books?

Part of that is due to the printing disaster with Eberron. It was supposed to be out now

D&D 5E (2024) When are we getting announcements for 2026 books?

Maybe Pax West? Wizards is a major sponsor with a large booth. Baldman is running D&D open play. Acq Inc is back. There's the following D&D events too; Learn to Play Forgotten Realms preview Legends of Greyhawk Being local cuts down on costs

    D&D General D&D: Literally Don't Understand This

People in this thread have called for shame on the WotC posse for including art with eyeglass wearers. It's quite clear I'm not welcome at their able and mocking my feeling that way isn't welcoming either.

    D&D General D&D: Literally Don't Understand This

True! I edited my statement slightly. But if people object so vehemently to these things I start to understand why women, POC, LGBTQ feel put off by flavors of the hobby. Those that wouldn't welcome a middle aged glasses wearer certainly aren't going to accept an Arab-inspired hero from the Age...
