    Excerpt: The Warlord

I noticed Lead the Attack is a great "Kill the solo monster" ability. Assuming the warlord has an Int of 16, a success will give everyone within 5 squares +4 to hit the monster for the rest of the encounter. How would that have helped the DDXP players against the dragon?

    Excerpt: The Warlord

That's been puzzling me for quite a while; it's why, early on, I though the Warlock was going to be a controller. Three strikers and one controller still seems a bit of an odd choice in light of WotCs stated philosophy.

    Excerpt: The Warlord

A class with a lot of flair, especially the Tactical path. I love the idea of a smart fighter giving big benefits to his allies. I wish they'd described the Inspiring Word power, since that looks to be the Warlords inherent healing ability. And for the art, enter the efreet

Will CON become a dump stat?

But there are powers that have specific weapon requirements, such as the Rogue powers that need to use a light blade, and Tide of Iron which requires a shield. My guess is that this is what Rob Heinsoo may have referring to in that early article.

What good is an Endurance skill?

Staying awake. Something that the GM might require from characters who are keeping watch after 2 days of a forced march.

    DMG Excerpt: Customizing Monsters

This is twice the level bonus for PC and standard monster progression. I wonder why the difference.

    Tiers Excerpt (merged)

I recall a comment from one of the developers on Gleemax that he'd like his playtest character to "learn more rituals", with the implication that learning more wasn't limited by level progression. It sounded a lot like your option 3. I'd like to provide a link, but unfortunately it was on...

    D&D 4E 4e Monster Manual excerpt

The succubus has only 90 HP. Great defenses, but I think it might be easier to kill than the level 4 black dragon from the DDXP scenario.

    Alignment/Multiclassing/DM Screen/Power Source From I-Con

The sorcerer described in R&C, with it's barely-controlled powers, fits Primal quite well in my opinion. They are wielders of very wild magic.

    Dragonborn Info

Nice find! I wonder what punishment The Rouse is receiving for this security breach? Is he being shipped off to the card mines? Nice again! It doesn't do that much damage though.

    Mindflayer's Interview at WotC

Wizards has a new cartoon up, featuring the mindflayer. [Not as good as the first two IMO.]

    Dispel Magic

There might be a power called disjunction, but I hope to heaven it isn't what it was in 3rd ed.

    Dispel Magic

    - Wizards get a utility power at level 6. - conjurations create ... creatures. Are there some summoning spells in 4e? We already saw Bigby's grasping hand from the DDXP preview. Looking at that page, all the spells that are conjurations are dailies.

From Robin Laws LJ: "small projects" for WotC

A comment from Robin laws on his livejournal about a panel at the Portland Gamestorm convention: Was anybody here at the Gamestorm panel? If so, did anything new about 4e come out?

The Economics of Open Gaming - An Open Letter To WotC

I can't speak for you, but for me the answer would be "none of them are any better." I don't buy products to adapt to another system. When I'm playing another system, I'll buy products designed for it. If there are a lot of buyers like me, then all the OGL does is make it easier for customers...

How many Powers in the PHB?

Oh boy was I expecting splats. The 4e model of spells powers for everyone means splatbooks for everyone as well. I think there was a quote from one of the developers that we shouldn't expect new classes in the Martial Power splat. Given there are four martial classes in the PHB1 all waiting for...

How many Powers in the PHB?

First, a bit of thread necromancy: "Wake, thread! Rise from your unquiet grave that you might serve your new master!" From WotC_Dave's preview of his druid: Which I think is a hint that a 4e class is designed with about 80 powers. Which if true for the PHB1 would give it about 640 powers...
