Displacement - a bit wussy eh? Mirror image too...

Fine by me. The spell did what it was meant to do: force a reroll.

Displacement - a bit wussy eh? Mirror image too...

Another easy use is as a "critical negator." First time a monster criticals a party member, make it reroll. There's a 95% chance of negating it. Displacement is a really handy power IMO.

Displacement - a bit wussy eh? Mirror image too...

We don't know how common the "force an enemy to reroll an attack" powers are; we only have these two examples. If they're the only two in the game, then it would be better described as a "a paragon level spell that gives an ability that otherwise only halflings can get." (Also, 16 isn't "high...

Where do feats fall into this again?

That's why I think it's so good: it doesn't give any more HP than the 3.x version, but with no +Con items it's much harder to get a lot of HP in 4ed. And its effect on healing surges makes it even better. I've found that my opinions of these feats has changed as we've seen more of the rules. I...

Where do feats fall into this again?

Based on the limited number of feats we saw in the preview, I can't say that any of these appear to be true. Toughness is more powerful than the 3.x Improved Toughness, Toughness and GWA seem to be quite a bit better than Alertness and First reaction IMO, and the paragon feats don't seem...

The Runecarved Eidolon - Weird monster

From the other monsters I've seen "natural" is just planar origin - it means they originate from the middle world. There are "Natural" undead as well. Immortal = Astral Sea Natural = Real World Fey = Feywild Elemental = Elemental Tempest Shadow = Shadowfell Aberrant = Far Realm

    Pathfinder 1E Paizo Annoucement!

From Jason Bulmahn on the Pathfinder RPG page : Eric Mona also started a Paizo Is Still Undecided on the Paizo 4e boards in October 2007. I recall him starting an earlier thread on the same board soliciting opinions about a 3.75e earlier, but I can't find it anymore. For me, this was not...

WOTC, Scott, Where in the World is the GSL

The GSL delay is really puzzling. WTH is going on? However I don't know that this delay has cost them Paizo. Erik Mona was talking about doing a possible 3.75 soon after the original 4e announcement and I don't recall much positive comment from anyone at Paizo about the new edition. They never...

Advancement of Pregens to Second Level

Or the Warhammer uses Con for its attack bonus rather than Str? From Design and Development: Class, right after Gencon: Of course, that before a lot of external playtesting and things may have changed...

    Change in WotC pricing structure?

Hong transcends the bitch limit! I've been trying to support my FLGS, but with 4e I've reached the bitch limit as well. The price difference is just too much. S&B is now Amazon's bitch.

How many Powers in the PHB?

The Wizard spells page at DDXP showed that the 6 levels of wizard shown - halfway through 10th to halfway through 16th - had 14 powers. If this is typical for all levels of all the classes (which is a very big assumption) then each class will have 70 powers and there will be a total of 560...

    D&D 4E 4e Character Sheet, by Neceros

If it has to be a multipage sheet - and I'm pretty sure it does, then I'd like the pages to be "silod" by use as much as possible. Say, one page with everything you need for combat, one with everything for skill challenges and non-combat (inlcuding rituals), one with all your level progression...

Meek to mighty... in a month

This was exactly the case in 3rd edition: following the guidelines of 4 level-appropriate encounters per day would get the PCs two levels a week. I recall someone pointing this out not long after 3.0 was released. It never seemed to be a problem for most DMs. Since a lot of the changes in 4th...

Dungons of Dread (DDM) Monster Stats from DDXP

It's the latter: all the elite monsters have 1 AP and +2 to saves, all the solo monsters have 2 AP and +5 to saves.

Dungons of Dread (DDM) Monster Stats from DDXP

Thanks for posting these! Some of the undead are called "Natural": ie the Vampire Spawn is Medium Natural Humanoid (Undead). It looks like the second descriptor in the monster name is the planar origins of the beastie: Natural = the Middle World Immortal = the Astral Sea and its domains Fey =...

Design & Development: Warlord Article UP!

I recently finished playing a Bard through the entire Age of Worms campaign. Straight Bard levels 1-20, no prestige classes. Part of the reason I did this was to convince another player - who'd played a Bard in a previous campaign - that it's possible to design a fun Bard. I was perhaps a bit...

Why do we have ability scores?

As everyone says, legacy. They were legacy in 3e for the most part as well - the scores are used for what, carrying capacity, ability damage and access to spell levels? All of those could easily been converted to working off the modifiers. (Another odd similarity to Earthdawn : it has ability...

Armor & Coins - please, No.

But not as good as stealing from Jack Vance! Though "Phandal's Excellent Prismatic Spray" was cut to just "Prismatic Spray." The wordword nomenclature wouldn't be as irritating to me if they didn't do it so often.
