Wotc_Huscarl on the Biggie Smalls playtest, part 6.

Yeah, I'd like to see that as well. Given their apparent lack of resources right now (see DDI updates, lack of) I hope they are dedicating enough to this.

D&D 4E Whats in the 4e gift pack?

I remember reading that the advantage of the gift set is in shipping costs for those of us who aren't in North America: Amazon considers the gift set to be one item instead three. But at the moment I'd still pay more for the gift set than the three books. I'll wait to see if it gets discounted

Wotc_Huscarl on the Biggie Smalls playtest, part 6.

Ditto. It will mean two martial strikers in the PHB, though. One interesting thing about the party makeup in this playtest is that four out of seven characters are strikers. WotC must like strikers.

Wotc_Huscarl on the Biggie Smalls playtest, part 6.

One interesting comment I saw on the Gleemax boards was that while Biggie is a ranger, he's done nothing that looks like arcane or divine spellcasting. Of course, Biggie's only 2nd level, but I'd think Wizards wouldn't repeat the 3e mistake of making spellcasting start so late.

Wotc_Huscarl on the Biggie Smalls playtest, part 6.

WotC_Huscarl aka Steve Winters has just posted part 6 of the Biggie Smalls Chronicle, which has a bit of interesting info for those who like reverse engineering things:

The Devil's in the Details: Slavicsek reveals the Pit Fiend in all its glory

Nice! The stat bonuses are all equal to the 3e values + lvl/2, which was one of the interpretations of the spined devil, so that's confirmed now. I note it has the standard defences plus "Saving Throws: +2" listed, so it looks like similar rules from the miniatures are in. "Irresistible...

    Sage Advice - multiclassing

    Yeah, they seem pretty useless.

    Sage Advice - multiclassing

I think those videos were filmed months ago. In the video answer to the previous question, Scott Rouse mentions "Races and Classes, which will be coming out in December."

DDM 2.0 stat cards are up!

Looking through the list, the good and evil creatures are all what would be outsiders in 3.5, with one odd exception: the Blood of Vol Fanatic.

DDM 2.0 stat cards are up!

It was "vs. Defense (Ref)" on the DDM preview card, but "+9 Dex vs. Ref" on the 4e preview.

    WotC_Bruce serves the dragon

But it may not mean star pacts are in PHB1. They could easily be in the first arcane supplement.

    D&D 4E Angels in 4e: a possible future problem

But they'll criticize D&D no matter what WotC does - their minds are made up. And I don't think there's any benefit in pandering to people who want you destroyed.

    D&D 4E 4E Roles

I recall a quote in Races and Classes that "if you can't choose a defender, the monsters will choose one for you." In my experiene that's always been the case.

    D&D 4E 4E Roles

I think that this can be traced back far further than WoW, in fact earlier than D&D. These roles come from miniatures. Defender = Infantry, Striker = Cavalry, Controller = Artillery and Leader = the General, who gives his units bonuses and can rally them when they go into rout. I think it's...

    WOTC! Give us an update!

As an ad for 4e, most of the online stuff has been fine as far as I'm concerned, if rather scant. As an ad for DDI as a pay service, it's dreadful, and Gleemax sends a message about the quality of their online architecture that's just as bad. Right now the top Dungeons and Dragons news is a...

Let's help Mouseferatu with the APG

In that case (and this might be better directed to Orcus) I'd suggest you use somewhat different names for the APG classes ie berserker instead of barbarian, troubadour instead of bard. In this way people can play both the APG and Wizards version of the class without any confusion about which...

D&D 4E How does Favored Class Work in 4e?

Michele Carter said here that favored classes and the multiclassing penalty aren't in 4e. So they don't work in 4e because they're not there. On the other hand, that response was in a thread discussing a Gleemax post by Rich Baker where he said half-elves "multiclass well." What this means...
