    MM2 Excerpt: Remorahz

Arcane Power has just made this worse the lvl 10 Wizard daily utility Mass Resistance: give all allies within 10 squares resistance to a chosen typed damage equal to half level plus Int mod. In the late heroic level party I'm playing in I think all the PCs have resistance 5 to poison and...

Familiars - can someone give me a quick overview?

Described on rpgnet as "Eye Rays of Love!", or even "Eye Ways of Wuv!"

Anyone else feel indifferent about the PDF thing?

Pretty much. I can see some people have a legitimate grievance about downloads and WotC could have given more warning, but that's about it. A lot of what I've read seems to be people who say they used to hate WotC but now they really, really hate them. Seems rather excessive.

    Hybrid Classes

It is there but something odd is happening: If I search for "Reaper's Touch" or "Reapers Touch", no luck. If I search for "Reapers" or "Reaper's", no good, but the Paragon Path Dread Reaper is found. If I search for "Reaper" or "Touch" it's there under feats, as "Reapers Touch" in the list or...

    Arcane Power Excerpt: Cosmic Magic

It seems especially odd given that "Storm" is the other new Sorcerer build. I can associate Storm with Strength and Cosmic with Int quite easily. Edit: I forgot the other sorcerer secondary stat is Dex, not Int. I find it rather hard to associate either Str or Dex with a cosmic power source.

    Arcane Power Excerpt: Cosmic Magic

Well now a striker gets area burst at-wills. And one with an actual control feature attached, unlike Scorching Burst. I'm hoping Arcane Power will actually give a mechanical reason to play a Wizard, except for "I have cool daily powers and a broken class ability at Epic levels. Also, I have...

    Arcane Power Excerpt: Vestige Pact

I agree. If not, I see a whole lot of players choosing the Xandar pact boon at the start of the day and sticking with it.

    Arcane Power Excerpt: Vestige Pact

Finally another Con-based pact! Eyes of the Vestige actually looks very powerful, since it allows you to curse foes behind their front lines. With the Zutwa pact, you then get Prime Shot. And it targets Will. On the other hand, the vestiges don't seem as cool as in 3e. Where are their...

    "loseing is not cost effective"

To the OP: Keep on the Shadowfell is the first published 4e adventure from WotC, and it shows. It's combat heavy and a few of the encounters are very nasty, including one notorious for causing TPKs. It's a rough start for a campaign. Unfortunately not a great intro. As for daily powers, I...

    "loseing is not cost effective"

True, with the exception of some of the more unbalanced Wizard and Fighter dailies like Stinking Cloud and Rain of Steel. I've come to the conclusion that the game doesn't really need Daily powers: Healing Surges provide a natural end to the adventuring day. Though it's best to have some idea...

    D&D 4E Roles in 4E D&D - Combat and Non-Combat Roles

I've also been wondering how to define non-combat roles in an rpg. At the moment 4e doesn't have non-combat niche protection: non-combat abilities are provided by skills and rituals, which are easily learnable with one feat. I've been thinking that to have proper niche protection outside of...

    Assassins in PHB3

Is this official, or is it part of your prediction? The Editorial Calendar says the playtest this month is from Martial Power 2, so if it's the Monk, the Monk is a Martial class.

Excerpts: PHB2 - Heric Tier Feats

Piercing Strike allows a Rogue to attack reflex. I think this feat would still be attractive to Rogues. A problem that eventually arises for all class is the soldier several levels above the party: the epitome of grind. Hitting isn't a huge problem against most enemies, but it's a really big...

The familiars do look good. I also want to see the stats for the Grun D'Haag, Jailer of Spring.

Who's the biggest loser/coward from last night's game?

I don't see any cowards, just characters who failed save-or-suck rolls. It's just part for the pre-4e game. (In 4e, it's get-hit-then-suck-then-fail-8-saves-in-a-row.) As for losers: i) The biggest loser: the Cleric, for not casting Heroes Feast. "Let's not have immunity to poison and fear at...

What are the most worthless feats (Heroic)?

I've seen both a Dragonborn Paladin and an Elf Bow Ranger take it. The Paladin wanted more damage and had run out of other feats he wanted, and the Ranger because it applied to both of his Twin-Strike attacks. There's a Dwarf Cleric in the same game who has Astral Fire. Given how many radiant...

At-will class powers ruining my archetypes

The problem is that it won't change things for the classes that already invest heavily in Strength or Dex. The PHB(*) Fighter will barely notice the difference: none of his at-will attacks do more damage than his basic attack. And the Fighter in particular is not considered by many to be a weak...

Fighting Wraiths aka how to annoy your players

I had the same problem with that fight. It was exacerbated by the wraiths attacking reflex and weakening on a hit: not only were the defenders attacking insubstantial monsters, they were usually doing half damage to begin with. The Seething Wraith also seemed to have too many HP, but I cut them...

What PHB2 options are you most looking forward to?

Unless they're feats for the new PHB2 arcane characters, I don't think there will be much if anything for wizards in PHB2. Wizards will be getting more support in Arcane Power instead.
