More Infos About DDI / Campaign Tools

Yeah, I think this is the right choice, as well. Maptools is already perfect for 4e--macros for powers are super-easy to write, and it even has settings for one-one-one movement and counting by squares. Whereas an "adventure builder" is something I've never seen anything like before, and it...

Illusionist Wizards - What about all the monsters that are immune?

At that point, though, you're making illusion immunity effectively useless without corresponding psychic immunity, and there is no monster yet printed with both. I like the "take the damage, but no other effects" idea, although for stuff like Phantasmal Assailant it might be better to give...

    super basic shield question

My DM clearly displays the attack rolls (we play online over Maptools), so I always know when Shield is useful and usually what the attack will do to me if it hits. Under these circumstances, I love Shield and will not retrain it for anything currently available. I don't know if it's too...

    Arcane Power- Wizards Stretched Thin

Infernal -> Supernal is also errata'd.

    Arcane Power- Wizards Stretched Thin

Illusions are re-errata'd. No idea what they were thinking with the (three!) tier-scaling attack bonus feats. WTF, Wizards. I don't actually have a problem with the Genasi double-Strength thing, since Str is such a loser attribute generally for a Wizard, and they're never going to be...

    Arcane Power- Wizards Stretched Thin

When he says "cuts the damage in half", he means that that half, converted to ongoing, is all that affects you. You take no damage at all from the triggering attack. So you might take only half, or none if you can get a save before your turn. But you might take a lot more.

    More Hospitaler's Boon woes.

Well, I guess you should start attacking the paladin a bit more, eh? Maybe include him in the fireball next time? I mean, that's kind of what he's there for. 1/round probably wouldn't hurt anything... but the pally needs a bit of defending help as it is. EDIT: Huh, including him wouldn't have...

    Arcane Power- Wizards Stretched Thin

Unlike some other effects, immobilize is very unlikely to be more useful EONT than save ends. Unless they can make a save before their turn (which is what, hobgoblins and gods?) they're pretty much stuck with 1+ rounds of immobilize. Daze and stun I could see you wanting to make sure you had...

    Draconic Spellcaster: Seriously?!

Yeah, really not cool. Hellfire Blood is an awesome feat, this stomps all over it. Ditto for the gnome illusionist one. If the Expertise feats were "math fix" then what are these, "math shatter"?

    Druid prestige classes

Psst. Planar Shepard from PGtEberron. You're welcome! Just don't get too crazy--avoid the planes with 10:1 speed for your bubble, and don't turn into Efreets and grant yourself Wishes just because you can. Try to pretend that your party needs other members.

    Arcane Power- Wizards Stretched Thin

Yeah, if it doesn't grant an actual fly speed, they definitely can't stay in the air. While it ought to have mentioned this explicitly, I think the power's probably OK.

So, any consensus on PHB2 powerhouses?

Incidentally, that's a no. Eyes of the Vestige is the only new Warlock at-will. Seems pretty damn spiffy, though, with the customization of the vestiges. I don't think a mandated at-will is that terrible an idea--the shaman and (to a lesser extent) druid both work out alright with some at-will...

So, any consensus on PHB2 powerhouses?

Honestly, I don't think so. There's plenty of ways to cheese out the save penalty already in the AV if you want to, and Wizards don't get that much out of Wisdom besides that. I think the versatility of having three at-wills as a controller keeps Humans in the top spot.

    Arcane Power- Wizards Stretched Thin

As far as I can tell, bingo. Their reasoning seems to be: if you stick all your points into synergistic abilities, you're already plenty powerful and won't need the feats. Whereas if you spread it out a bit, you might be less straightforwardly powerful, but you might qualify for more useful things.

So, any consensus on PHB2 powerhouses?

Oh yeah, I don't think anyone is denying that Wizards are game-changers at this point. The issue is Arcane Strikers, the Warlock in particular, and whether their damage is/can be up to par for a Striker. When I've seen Warlocks in combat, they seem to do decent damage, but I pretty much...

    Ecology of the Deva

Maybe carved into his back, read to him by a talking skull each time he reincarnates in a mortuary?

So, any consensus on PHB2 powerhouses?

Yeah, I'm confused about the Dazzling Ray hubbub, too. That's equal to a 3W from a heavy-weapon wielder, like the fighter's Brute Strike. You know, the underpowered one? Heck, the Barb can do 6d6, with the double-stacked attributes to boot, as a level 1 encounter! Of course, using that power...

    MM2 Ice and Stone giants

Stone giants are nasty! DR5 until bloodied? And it doesn't use the same action as the mark, either! Threatening reach on the mark, too. And ugg, those defenses. I'm getting an aneurysm picturing the fight.

    Ecology of the Deva

Tiny nitpick: The rakshasa's hands are wrong; that position is one a human could assume. (try it yourself!) The thumb should be on the other side. Obviously this'll be hard to correct in the final version, though... EDIT: I wonder if my DM would let my tiefling take that Deva Heritage feat?

So, any consensus on PHB2 powerhouses?

The PHBIIers all seem pretty competent at their jobs--though I haven't seen Wardens and Avengers in action yet. My barb's damage seems pretty comparable to our party's Ranger, and my Shaman gives out possibly more health than the party's Warlord, but more spread out. I'd call the PHBII...
