    Grading At-Will Powers

Sorc Time! Some of these are pretty neat! Remember that they're all adding a secondary stat to damage. Here's my thoughts: Acid Orb: Eldritch Blast with (rarely resisted) typed damage and double range. B Burning Spray: With cloth, getting close to the fight is dangerous, but this will almost...

    Druid...now THAT's a controller!

Ouch, wouldn't this provoke from everyone around you? Anyway, glad to hear people are liking the druid. I am so stoked for March, it's not even funny.

    Grading At-Will Powers

Well, OK, I forgot the Dex req for HBO. But still, high Wis is good for a Paladin, between power effects and Lay on Hands uses. A Cha/Wis paladin won't have great OAs compared to a Str/Cha one, but they can heal more and many of their powers have greater effects, not just Bolstering. I think my...

    Wizards, nerfed or not?

They got rabbit-punched with the nerf glove from 3.5, that's certain, but I'm not sure they qualify as weakest. They appear to do more damage than the Druid or Invoker early on at least, going by role-comparison. They also definitely throw around the nastiest status effects of the PHB classes...

Open grave Excerpt: Demilich (and other lich lore)

Seriously. Handing out save penalties to everyone for failed saves? Talk about your negative feedback loops. Yikes.

    Playing Dhampyr

I've been playing Fallout 3 recently, how about Perks? The name Feat has never actually bothered me, though. There are plenty of other weird word choices in games to bug me first (see: the entire HERO system...).

    Grading At-Will Powers

Well, Bolstering is Cha-based, right? I think a Cha/Wis pally wouldn't be that hard to pull off, especially once you snagged HBO. I'd put it right alongside Crushing Surge, I think at-will rating ought to be build-agnostic. And heck, has anyone even played a Battlerager yet? Are they really...

    Grading At-Will Powers

Eh. You won't even notice the AC boost most of the time, and it makes your mark less valuable, since it encourages enemies not to attack you. Lame. Something is screwed up with the Temp HP powers, though. The Paladin's Bolstering Smite gets a B-, the barb's Recup Strike gets B+, and the...

    Grading At-Will Powers

New class previews mean a new set of at-wills! Unfortunately, the Warden's are rather uninteresting: Earth Shield Strike - It's like 3.5's Dodge all over again! Thorough meh, worse than Thundering Armor. I give it a C. Strength of Stone - Pretty handy, equal to Recuperating Strike, minus the...

    what stinking cloud can do

You need to actually move into the Cloud actively for the damage to occur. Forced movement in will trigger it (though mind the save, DMG pg 44), but simply moving the Cloud over a creature won't. Think of it as a point the gases emanate out of-- the origin point needs to be at rest for the gases...

Compiled info on upcoming classes & races

Playing a level 3 Barbarian here. So far, my damage output is very spikey. I'll have rounds where I just hit something with my hammer and do fairly minor damage, and then ones where I one-shot a skirmisher with Avalanche Strike, and then charge another, crit, and hit it again. According to my...

Brainstorm: Alternative Druid-Like Nature Classes (UPDATED!)

Have you seen the Spirit Shaman in Complete Divine? Uses the druid spell list, is a spontaneous caster, and has various (kinda weak) spirit powers instead of wild shape/animal companion. Uses Cha, I believe. Looked fine to me, as long as you didn't mind being completely overshadowed by a real druid.

Making and Playing a Badass Wizard: How?

You seem to be pumping Cha instead of Wis. Mistake?

Making and Playing a Badass Wizard: How?

Having to keep up Int, Wis, Str and Con to get the most out of your build = not fun, though.

    Spell Lists: Really Necessary?

The problem isn't wizards, it's clerics and druids. The edge that Wizards keep over those classes is arcane magic-- they are strictly worse otherwise. (Bonus feats vs. Wild Shape/Animal Companion/Spontaneous Summoning? Yeah, let me think about that.) Letting the spellcasting bear pick any spells...

    Is Tiamat Beatable?

I agree with most of your post, but this is incorrect: Negative status effects only affect the next head activation, so only one of T's heads can be put to sleep permanently. (I would also let natural 20s always succeed, no matter the penalty, but that's a subject for another thread.) Neutering...

    D&D 4E Are humans balanced in 4e?

Exactly. A human wizard or warlock, for example, can grab at-wills to target all defenses. That's serious flexibility right there. Human druids get four at-wills! How is that not awesome!

Sword Mage vs Rogue vs everybody else...(min-maxing and stacking damage questions)

Iron Armbands of Power are an item from the AV. They aren't armor, so any character can use them. They're also pretty cheesy, and lame items in my book (along with Bracers of Archery, like Rangers needed more help). I don't allow them in my games, talk to your DM about them.

    Dragon 370 - Invoker Preview

Uh, Vanguard's Lightning-- hax? It's Scorching Burst++, and in a less-often resisted energy type. What's the deal, WotC? Class looks pretty cool otherwise. I like Offering of Justice, that's a neat power idea. Divine classes still don't really do it for me, and I liked the druid much more, but...

    Grading At-Will Powers

Also, WTF at Pressing Strike being a C+. It's Tide of Iron + a better Deft Strike put together, and it does extra damage when raging. I mean, what else do you want it to do, make you breakfast?! My dragonborn barbarian uses it all the time to get into flanking positions or extend his movement...
