    Broken and banned

Eh, they work fine errata'd with the old DCs and no footnote. They overcompensated with the errata DCs, but the middle ground is a nice level of difficulty.

    Broken and banned

-Anything that lowers ritual costs, like the High Mage and Ritualist's Ring. They work fine, except for item creation rituals. -The AV Bracers for archery and melee that give a flat +2/4/6 to damage. No, thank you. -Opal Ring of Remembrance, from the AV. I have no idea why it was printed. Other...

What do you want to know about the Draconomicon?

Wow, that's actually pretty much spot-on, within the 4e guidelines. In the darkness all the time, so crazy hard to hit, and losing surges and weakening is a pretty good match for negative levels. I like it!

    Good & Bad : Wizards

Alright, say what you want about the 4e wizard, but this: is just silly. The wizard is the friggin' master of AoE attacks. They have the only ranged area at-will in the game! Clerics don't even get a ranged burst until level 15, and by then, wizards are putting up walls of ice and fire...

Martial Power and Races: Dragonborn and Tieflings

Wow. My dragonborn barbarian was already going to go Iron Vanguard, and this feat seems brokenly good to add on top... Geez, imagine that with Thunderhawk rage. Every round, deal Str+Con damage to an enemy, for free. Yikes.

    Creature Incarnations: Gnolls

Every month is Gnoll Month! Seriously, it's fantastic how much love gnolls have gotten. A demon lord, a player race, and now this! It makes me want to give Ari and Wizards a hug.

Excerpt, Manual of the Planes: Types of Planes

Astral Diamonds are shards of divinity. They're mined from the massive corpses of dead gods, found deep within the Astral Sea. The githyanki have the largest mining clans, and closely guard the locations of the richest deific masses.

What do you want to know about the Draconomicon?

Shadow Dragons? What're they like now? In 3.5 they were frankly uber, with permanent total concealment, ridiculous AC, and a negative-level breath weapon. This book seems non-optional at this point. Ugh. Amazon, here I come.

    Good & Bad : Wizards

Thunderwave's best use is either pushing enemies into bad places, readying it to push away an approaching enemy, or using it to avoid AoOs when you can't shift away. The push isn't necessarily that useful by itself, but even without a push, a close at-will is good to have. The real advantage of...

    Draconomicon Art Gallery

The grey dragon above the battle, the celestial purple dragon, and the massive blind grey dragon are my favorites. The serpentine dragon coiled around the human was pretty great, too. This book seems worth it for the art alone. The only thing I miss now is being able to turn into 'em...

    Good & Bad : Wizards

Wizards get the best powers for general status effects. They cause the best effects, to the most enemies, the earliest. Nothing besides Color Spray dazes so many enemies per encounter at level 3-- you can lead off each battle with it (and a wizard ought to have Improved Initiative), and both...

Addind ½lvl to your powers... not?!

And from my experience, epic characters rip through epic monsters like tissue paper. I could easily have used monsters a full level or more higher throughout my epic campaign without too much trouble.

Compiled info on upcoming classes & races

A couple of pages ago, there was a link to pictures of a party of minis made up only of PHBII classes, and at least two were shapeshifted (one was a salamander and the other was a wolf, IIRC). I bet the Warden is a shapeshifting defender, and Salamander is one of the forms they get. It makes...

    Previews: November and Beyond

Heh heh heh... Planar Shepherd, back from the dead! Hopefully even more broken this time! EDIT: From the Martial Power thread, Invigorating powers grant Temp HP if you're trained in Endurance, and Rattling ones give an attack penalty (ugh) if you're trained in Intimidate. Seriously, every...

To all D&D fans - what are the top 3 specific changes 4e needs in your opinion

So, you mean powers like Greater Auto-Win Argument, or are you talking stuff that violates the Grandmother Rule, if you catch my drift? But seriously, people complain enough about the "superheroic" martial powers as it is.

To all D&D fans - what are the top 3 specific changes 4e needs in your opinion

My picks, as a 4e fan: 1) More experimentation, with the powers, class roles, everything. Things like giving Barbarians multiple ways to spend their rages, or artificers using machines with their own defenses and HP. The best part of any game is when the creators try out new and daring things...

Opening Shove, New Warlord at Will

Right, I know. But the way damage is done makes all the difference. Also, I like more powers that hamper enemies, rather than hurting them. Stuff like that one Warlock daily that lets you cancel enemy attacks, or Web. They contribute to the fight by making it easier for your party to finish them...

    Ampersand: The Bard (merged)

    1) Yeah, I know, which is why the bard isn't a good fit for 4e, in my opinion. Bards should, at the most, help other people kick ass harder. I'm working on my own version of a damage-less bard, which I'll stick in Homebrew when I'm happy with it. 2) Yeah, but he had to take a PrC first, and he...

    Hellish Rebuke

A multiclassed Infernal Warlock/Wizard/Blood Mage could get a lot of mileage out of that. Especially a tiefling with Hellfire Blood...

Opening Shove, New Warlord at Will

Opening Shove is cool! We need more powers that don't do damage, it's a hole in the game currently. I especially like how it gives more tactical options, which helps eliminate the problem of multiple rounds of at-will use feeling repetitive. Wizards is definitely getting more creative with...
