    Ability Score Blues

Buying the 18 isn't so bad. My Tiefling wizard bought an 18 Int and went Hellfire Blood at first level, giving me a comfy +6 with my fire attacks. Sure, my defenses ain't so hot (Fort in particular-- ick!), but it's worth it for me for the feeling of power I get. And with Color Spray, I'm near...

    Iconic Spells

Disintegrate, Fly, Meteor Swarm, Tensor's Floating Disc, Raise Dead, Prismatic Spray, Prestidigitation, Detect Magic, Detect Evil, Mage Hand, Burning Hands, Cure X Wounds, Ray of Frost. I personally think Cloud of Daggers is cool enough to be a new icon, but you may disagree. Polymorph...

    Lycanthrope PC Races

OK, added the Wereserpent and made changes. Standardized the power format to match the ones in the book, and altered a few things based on feedback from a friend. Next up, possibly a werelizard. Maybe with poison spitting?

    Lycanthrope PC Races

Your werebear is nice! Much better formatted than my weres, I kinda just splatted some powers out. And sweet art, too. I decided on multiple powers because some races (like drow) have multiple. It'd be pretty easy to turn some of those powers into racial features anyway, so I think it's a "six...

    Lycanthrope PC Races

That's not a bad idea, but two things: 1) According to the MM, lycs are now hereditary, so they already are a separate race. 2) Making them their own race lets me make them more powerful than you could make them with a feat. Feats are pretty weak in general, and you couldn't get much power out...

Does anyone actually like Dragonborn and Tieflings?

Are we still talking about this? After playing as both, I like 'em a lot. I originally for Dragonborn and against Tieflings, but playing a Tiefling Wizard changed my mind. Mechanically, he's very fun, and I get to have great RP situations where I act snooty and arrogant. I think this racial...

    Lycanthrope PC Races

I'm sick of shifters being the "PC Lycanthropes", so I made my own! Wereboar, bear and tiger races will come along as soon as I come up with some cool powers. Werewolf Medium – Speed 6 +2 Str, +2 Wis +2 Athletics, +2 Nature Vision: Normal in human, otherwise low-light. Languages...

Are you buying a DDI subscription?

...Because you want early looks at classes? I'd have paid for the Barbarian playtest even though I'll be buying PHBII. I love to see game design at work. Personally, I'm trying to save money, so I'm not going to subscribe until the next class playtest. Or they come out with something involving...

    Balancing Starlock AC

    1. Retraining is the best option here. Take Eyebite or Spiteful Glamour instead. 2. Second Pact to Infernal and use that, I suppose. Alternatively, check with your DM about making one of the pacts use Con. It is annoying that both are Cha-only, I agree. 3. True, but whatcha going to do? The...

Dragon 368 - Death Matters, Design & Developments

I remember. It got taken out because the simulationists complained. Damn sims. Narrativists fo' lyfe!

    Barbarian is up!!!

Huh? Why would any warlock want heavy armor? A infernal warlock will pump Con and Int, and Fey and Star (if Dragon is allowed) should pump Int and Cha. Heavy armor is a total waste. They should stick with hide, at most, and like it! AC should be absolutely in line with rogues and bow rangers...

Compiled info on upcoming classes & races

I like Warden, myself. Some people like Witch (Primal/Controller), but they're weird.

Name one thing you love and one thing you hate about 4e D&D

Well, technically they are the most "starting" they have ever been, since there are rules for them as a LA0 race. First time you could ever be a level 1 minotaur! Anyway, half-dragons have been popular forever, even with the terrible LA. It makes perfect sense that Wizards would make them core...

    Help wanted (Swordmage)

I think Assault is more fun, though. Teleporting around and beating up bad guys is great. Plus, instant flanking! Ask your DM if they mind you using a Bastard Sword two-handed for attacks and dropping the hand for the Warding boost right after. It's only a +1 damage, but every little bit helps...

Name one thing you love and one thing you hate about 4e D&D

Love: Many things, most of all how easy it is to DM. I really enjoyed my Epic 4e campaign, and I will never have the fortitude to do one in 3.5. Hate: It's a bit weak to be a "hate," more of a regret, but I miss all the weird, cool spells. As a spellcaster, I really felt powerful in 3.5...

Children of Darkness - More about the drow

I've got some Buddhist friends who might disagree. Or maybe they'd agree with you? Trying to escape the cycle and all that? I dunno. Anyway. Anybody else think the ED is just pathetic? Power-wise, and RP-wise! Powerwise, the most directly comparable, the demigod, blows it out of the water. So...

Epic Destiny: The Right Hand of Yeenoghu

There's no reason at all, I just don't want this ED to be restricted. All races should be able to glorify the Beast of Butchery!

Epic Destiny: The Right Hand of Yeenoghu

Ba-dum pssh! He's a demon gnoll, not a furry. The difference is fine, but it's there. Besides, this look like a paw to you?

Epic Destiny: The Right Hand of Yeenoghu

Well, I want to keep the gnoll powers a fairly small part of the overall class abilities, because, of course, some actual gnolls will be taking these. I'm also kinda hamstrung, since EDs don't give attacks. But a gnoll/Yeenoghu PP would go well with this, that'll be the next thing I do.
