    OA's while phasing...

Why? If you can move through walls (and presumably stay on the same level), why not floors? What makes a floor of stone more special than a wall of stone? I believe that for phasing to work at all, you must be able to choose what you can and can't move through. Otherwise, non-flyers would...

    OA's while phasing...

On the other hand, if you sink into the ground while moving past the enemy and pop out on the other side, they can't do anything. Phasing lets you do a lot of fun things like that.

    Protector's Shield Feat

Yeah, if it doesn't allow implement bonuses, there's not much point to the feat (4.5 damage roughly once per encounter, woo). However, there are so many useful shaman feats now that my level 12 one hasn't really felt tempted to snag it yet.

What character(s) do you want to play?

Right now I'd like to try out a (houseruled) Fightbrain, or a (possibly Int-based variant) Runepriest. I'd also like to take my Shielding Swordmage out of mothballs, and possibly get her to Paragon. She looks like this at 3: ====== Created Using Wizards of the Coast D&D Character Builder...

    Changing shape ritual?

Hat of Disguise (level 10, 5k gp) might work for you, too. Just an illusion, though.

Vote for your favorite Paragon Path - Part 16: Shaman

The spirit can't be targeted by area attacks at all (nor close), which on retrospect is another thing he doesn't like. (It's important to avoid Shamans and their spirits being targeted by one attack, though.) Also, with Sudden Call and the new errata, it's a free action to put the spirit...

    Meet Poof, my Warlock/Sorcerer hybrid

Yeah, all I was thinking when I saw the thread was: "Have you seen the new Poof?" "Shh! We don't need another lawsuit!"

Vote for your favorite Paragon Path - Part 16: Shaman

Things he considers overpowered/broken: High damage threshold for the spirit, combined with no effect if it's not met. Spirit OA grants free healing as an effect--since I'm tricked out for healing, it heals a lot. My DM dislikes provoking this even less than the fighter's OA/Combat Challenge...

Vote for your favorite Paragon Path - Part 16: Shaman

Playing a Spirit Tempest now. Healing Guides makes the party just stupidly survivable--if I choose to use one of my several extra conjuration or zone powers, I can usually grant the entire party bonus healing. For several fights, we've been able to get away with the invoker and the ranger not...

    Character Buillder updates?

That stuff was in the Dragon last month, they're always a month later than the books. Expect it in the May update.

rolled lvl 11 fighter what magic items should I get?

Do note that fighters don't get plate for free, they need to spend a feat. You probably did, I'm just making sure. Jagged Weapons are pretty nice, I've seen plenty of level 11 characters with Jagged Weapon/Magic Armor/Periapt of Health, and then you have the 5k to spend on iron armbands or whatnot.

    Fade Away

You're correct, the skulk does not get to make a stealth check when it becomes invisible (though there's a feat for that), so the PCs are still aware of where it is. On its next turn, it could hide somewhere and make the check to become hidden. There's actually no reason to remove the mini from...

Let's talk about which 4th edition element comes from where

Non-AC defenses were around in 3E's Unearthed Arcana, where they had a few different ways of rolling for hits and saves (players roll all dice, attacker rolls all dice, etc.).

Swordmage AC bad for a defender?

Swordmages get leather (+2), and many spend a feat on Greater Swordmage Warding in Paragon, which boosts all defenses by +1/+2 at epic. They stay with Fighters in scale, and can spend a feat to stay with Paladins in plate. EDIT: They may also spend a feat for either Hide armor or Improved SM...

A Concern About Wizard's Race Designs of Late

It mentions right on the chapter page that these are rare, unusual races, and that the vast majority of people in the world are PHB 1 and 2 races. WotC's options at this point were to stop making races or start making weirder ones, and I prefer the option they chose. Better that then another...

    Stun

One houserule I've used is that you can spend an action point while stunned to essentially become dazed instead for the turn. In the Epic game I used it, where stun is not uncommon, it helped the players feel a bit more involved.

Shaman - are you an ally of your companion?

My almost-complete inability to benefit from my shaman's own abilities led me to draw comparisons to Dr. Facilier a few weeks back: "Fun fact about voodoo spirit magic: can't do a thing for myself."

    Assassin Mechanics Questions

Yeah, I think it got written up in the Character Builder, but it's no more a power than Combat Challenge.

Aside from Expertise, what are the most commonly acknowledged feat-tax feats?

They do if they want two other at-wills, like Ardent and Enfeebling Strike. Virtuous Strike is ok, but at least in heroic it's worth taking Melee Training to avoid it. A Swordmage might or might not want to keep melee opponents adjacent, but they definitely don't want ranged enemies to be able...

What are a Spirit Companion's defenses?

It isn't, actually, that's why there's a lot of confusion about it. It would be such an easy thing to add to the power, too!
