    Primal Power Discussion

And the Shaman is...? Not that it really needs defender HP, mind you, but it does break the formula.

    Primal Power Discussion

Yeah, like with any * Power book, there's some badly edited stuff (Hide Expertise, Targeted Assault table vs. text [apparently table is correct, per Mike Donais on the CharOp boards], Sudden Call, Protective Roots). But a lot of cool, flavorful stuff too. It's probably just my predilection for...

    Primal Power Discussion

Beastform-only druids are still pants at their job. PP has few beastform powers in general, and even fewer have real controlling/debuffing effects. Tellingly, there's no new BF level 29 daily. However, their new at-will is pretty nice. Eagle Shamans are really cool--now Shamans don't have to...

Answering Questions about Draconomicon: Metallic Dragons (was: Primal Power Preview)

No no no, you don't understand officer; I was eating a poppyseed dragon this morning!

4E Class Survivor - Round 14 (We now have the final 5)

The barb is a powerful striker, with great flavor (channeling various spirits to wreak havoc). It can be either near-martial (you can now go 1-30 without doing a point of elemental damage), or a crazy thundery burning whirlwind of pain, based on the choices you make. It has an elegant AC...

Answering Questions about Draconomicon: Metallic Dragons (was: Primal Power Preview)

Does each new metallic have a full page portrait, like Drac I did? Not expecting them to, but I love big art! (although the grey's was disappointing)

4E Class Survivor - Round 14 (We now have the final 5)

I like all of these classes! It's a shame. The Sorc I just like slightly less than the rest.

    Abyssal Genasi

I think the Voidsoul is pretty nifty and evocative. And that PP encounter attack is just a plain creepy thing to be able to do. I'm honestly liking this trend towards frequent, short, focused articles. A few cool new character options every week sounds pretty great!

arguing with my DM: The Leadership feat(and a wizard)

Why should anyone need to take a feat to make sure they do fun and heroic things? And if a game can become vastly more complicated and difficult due to one character taking one feat, that just goes to show that the feat is bad for the game. Wizards being more versatile and powerful than...

    Primal Power: Whirling Barbarian Spoiler

I know about that feat, and I don't particularly care for it. I don't want Barbarians to be able to have high AC, especially not for one feat.

arguing with my DM: The Leadership feat(and a wizard)

I dunno, House can be very charming when he wants to be, and is a pretty good liar. I'd say he usually doesn't use it, but he has at least decent Cha. As for the discussion, Leadership is a bad feat in general, but if one person can have it, there's no reason not to let everyone take it. EDIT...

    Primal Power: Whirling Barbarian Spoiler

The Whirling Barb will have fantastic AC (Avenger-level, in fact) if they don't lose Barbarian Agility. I wonder if that's deliberate.

Spells which were not properly nerved...

Likewise, Plane Shift, Baleful Polymorph and Flesh to Stone should probably all be altered in some way to fit the new "no save or die" paradigm. Maybe offer a new save every round? I'm not entirely sure how they were missed, to be honest.

    Dragon Mag Trust Issues

Amusingly, Githzerai Blade Master is actually a preview feat from PHB3. As mentioned before, Dwarves and Eladrin get similar feats. They wrap together proficiency with a free Weapon Focus and a bonus +1 damage to make up for the lack of a racial Strength bonus, in my opinion. On the other hand...

    4E Class Survivor - Round 11

Here, at least, WotC throws you a bone: when you shift out of beast form, you may also shift one square. As for control, my game's druid does fine, although he intends to avail himself of Primal Power at the earliest opportunity. He loves using Grasping Tide to restrict movement and Swarming...

4E Class Survivor - Round 10 (make your prediction)

Thinking Fighter, Rogue and Barbarian like several other people. With the Warlock gone, I haven't really disliked any other classes on here, so I'm voting for the Ranger for being somewhat homogeneous in combat style. It makes me sad to see the Avenger and Druid getting hate, they're some of my...

    4E Classes You Like

I just finished my online game where I play a Shaman, so I feel particularly qualified to express my utter love for the class. The spirit is simply love; it is everything I could want it to be. In the last fight, I used it first as a roadblock to slow down the advances of two tough monsters...

    Primal Power Shaman Excerpt

Yeah, Scarred Healer looks off the hook, more of a single-target healer compared to the Spirit Tempest party healer. Very excited to see all my options for when we hit paragon! (and hopefully get a definite pick for level 7.) We could also use more good feats, so hoping for a surfeit.

Bits and pieces from this months Ampersand

That Counterbreath power in the Ninefold Master path is amazing. Take Admixture Breath a few times, and you basically don't have to worry about breath weapons ever again! Looking forward to the Artificer and Assassin articles.
