    Rapier is Superior?

    It's a 1d8 damage light blade.

    Cure Light Wounds: Nearly Useless?

Not necessarily. Shield of Faith does nothing against three of the four attack types in the game. If it was an encounter power I'd probably agree with you, but as a daily power I think it's reasonably balanced with CLW.

Why is Firestorm the best 19th level control spell?

Firestorm doesn't need to be moved. Plop it right on top of the party. Voila, the vast majority of creatures have to stand in it to have any hope of winning the encounter.

What infinite damage interpretation? No one's proposing that vorpal criticals do infinite damage.

So, has anyone played a wizard in full plate yet?

It still provokes OAs. If there were two creatures within melee range/reach of the warlock, and one of them provoked from the 'lock, and the 'lock somehow used Eldritch Blast for his OA, the other creature would be able to use an OA against the warlock.

So, has anyone played a wizard in full plate yet?

It's not quite as bad for warlords. For one, they don't lean on Int nearly as much as Wizards do. For two, the Plate-only armors aren't nearly as non-synergistic for them. For three, they don't have to spend nearly as many feats as Wizards do, or go as far out of their way for stats. But yeah...

Careful Attack/Sure Strike: A mathematical analysis

Yes. You always add those bonuses to damage rolls. Ability modifier is the only bonus that isn't always added to rolls.

Careful Attack/Sure Strike: A mathematical analysis

At level 11, it's not 2d10 for Twin Strike. At the least, it's 2d10+4, for a +2 longbow. More likely it's closer to 2d10+10 (+3 longbow, +2 weapon focus) or even 2d10+16 (add Sly Hunter to the mix).

Why is Firestorm the best 19th level control spell?

The thing is, the PHB defines controllers in large part by their ability to deal damage to many enemies at once (as opposed to strikers, who deal damage to single targets). As such, massive AOE damage spells are more-or-less defined by the game as control spells.

    1st Level Character : score of 20 ?

Yeah, Archer-Rangers can easily get away with 20 dex, 14+racial wis, and 11 con, dumping charisma (since they get zero cha-based skills anyhow).

The command prayer rubs me the wrong way sometimes

Wow. So in your campaign, Clerics are a required class for a party?

So, has anyone played a wizard in full plate yet?

And a smart player of a wizard will stop at Hide armor at the highest. Why waste 3 feats to get no benefit other than a different (and non-synergistic) selection of magical armor types?

Lots of statistics from the Monster Manual

I'm sad to see that (EDIT: some) people don't understand the place of numbers in game design. I'm a game designer by trade, and almost all of my work revolves around numbers. Sure, there's plenty of creative writing to it, and that's one of the most fun and engaging parts - but it's not the most...

    Vorpal Crits

The RAW clearly says "You do not roll damage". It also says only to add the modifiers if you roll damage. If you take the interpretation that you're not rolling damage, such as is required to rule that Vorpal weapons don't explode on critical damage, then you're not rolling damage and cannot add...

    Is it always like this?

I wasn't aware that my campaign had stopped running.

    Vorpal Crits

If you take this interpretation, then you also add weapon enhancement bonus, feat bonuses, and untyped bonuses to the extra damage you do from a Cleave or from a miss on Reaping Strike.

    Vorpal Crits

I don't notice you responding to the point I made in hong's defence. The rules very clearly contradict themselves on how to handle damage on critical hits. The only sane way to resolve the contradiction is to take the approach that critical hits are treated in every way as a damage roll, except...

Company of the Morning Sun: Heroes for Hire

Talia steps in closer to the ensuing battle to get a better view, and again raises her orb in the direction of the goblin rider. "Just die already," she whispers to herself as the familiar cloud of force springs from the ground surrounding the horrible little creature. It screams in rage as the...

    Vorpal Crits

Incorrect. The PHB is very clear that they only come into play when you "roll damage". Yes, that means the PHB contradicts itself when it says you don't roll damage for crits, but all the examples include adding enhancement bonuses.

    Vorpal Crits

Then you don't get any bonuses to the damage from Enhancement, Item, Feat, or any other sources. It's just the weapon dice.
