    Optimization and optimizers...

I have to second @Ruin Explorer here, this is conflating optimizers with munchkins. There's also a difference between theory-crafting and table experience. I know a lot of gamers that know about Pun-Pun and other cheesy character builds, but would never bring one to the table unless that was...

And specifically for Druids ... I would want to bank Hope for those stress free augmented Beastforms.

... Now you'll have to define your terms because to me, an optimizer is someone who works within the rules, I don't recognize this as the same thing you're describing. So then what's the problem? Net deck is primarily an MTG term, but it implies bringing a character (or in MTG a deck) that...

In a word ... YES. TTRPGs are a social game, part of that is following Wheaton's Law. "Don't be a dick." And tbh, I dislike the blanket assumption that optimizers are inherently out to ruin games. Pun-Pun dates back to 3.5 DnD and was a theoretical build of ... IIRC, a Kobold Wizard that could...

What do YOU plan on doing with Daggerheart?

I saw this on the Daggerheart subreddit and think it's solid advice.

That implies Character optimization and spotlight hogging are the same thing, which I don't agree with. In any event, theory crafting and building optimized PCs is a fun part to do when one isn't at the gaming table.

Eh? Building super over the top characters, ie, char op, is something Daggerheart supports. But I do think that social game conventions, narrative focus and the way hope/fear are generated gives DMs more tools to deal with that. (Hopefully? Lol, I've yet to sit down and play so I'm still...

What do YOU plan on doing with Daggerheart?

To thread the needle ... 4e has one of the best combat engines in any edition of DnD. It's where the game shines, IMO. But to say it lacks non-combat is also untrue, skill challenges actually provided a system that has been iterated on and used later on for managing social and exploratory...

Daggerheart Releases Another Round of Playtesting, Including Two New Classes

Well, there's already errata. Mainly spelling and such, but expecting a book to be completely error-free is a big ask. Errata PDF: https://www.daggerheart.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Daggerheart-Errata-5-20-2025.pdf

That said ... there's no such thing as death saves, so in combat healing is important, can't wait for a PC to drop.

Great to see new content. Impressed that they're already iterating on the Brawler(ex-Fighter) and Warlock.

Could an American write Doctor Who? - Babylon 5 creator throws hat in the ring

... As my username in other places is actually Dalek Kosh, I feel very seen. My general feedback on the Disney era of Doctor Who can best be described as "Aww, RTD is back on his usual naughty word (Complementary)" to "Oof, RTD is back on his usual naughty word (derogatory)". So I'm not really into...

Daggerheart is pretty hackable and such, so I can foresee a lot of potential products, depending on questions about the licensing. Campaign frames for sure, adventures and adversaries for DMs. Class design is fun in that it's modular. One can ... fill in the grid, so to speak, or add subclasses...

D&D General Chris Perkins and Jeremy Crawford Join Darrington Press

Daggerheart is the new hotness, and getting Perkins and Crawford will certainly help give Darrington some clout, but I highly doubt this is some threat to WotC or DnD as a brand. 5e will continue, as will DnD. Paizo and Pathfinder didn't kill it, I don't think Daggerheart and Darrington will...

Do you remember your first RPG purchase?

There was a 3.5 starter set for players. It had a softcover PHB, a box of minis and a set of dice.

[Daggerheart] Looking for some feedback on a (currently incomplete) class and domain

Which is kinda funny, because I've been thinking about an Artificer class, and the Relic domain, if renamed to Enchantment/Infusion/Artifice and flavoured as the Artificer enchanting/creating the item rather than tapping into the Relic's power gets you a lot of the way there. My own thought is...

Which summer movies are you looking forward most to?

Superman looks interesting. Hoping Fantastic Four will be good. I wasn't going to touch any more Jurassic Park, but Jonathan Bailey does look really hot in it.

Trailer Spaceballs 2: Not the Quest for More Money

I'm impressed to see Pullman and Moranis back ... but I'll admit to being nervous. I doubt the sequel can be good, but I'm willing to be proven wrong.
