    D&D 5E (2014) Minor Ilusion SPELL

If you cast an illusion of a 5ft pit, the creature would need to either move around it, thinking its real, or interact with it, using up its action to determine if it was real. What im not sure about is what if the creature interacts with say a fake illusory pit and fails the save... they...

    D&D 5E (2014) TIME STOP SPELL (9º)

Example (typical 3.5)[Wont work in 5e due to concentration): Wiz casts time stop, rolls 4. Now has 4+1 rounds of free time. Timestop round 1: Moves 10 ft and casts summon monster 5. Timestop round 2: Summon appears and is frozen. Casts delayed blast fireball targeting area near bad guy #1...

    D&D 5E (2014) TIME STOP SPELL (9º)

I do not agree. Conjuring or summoning a creature is not "affecting" it. It comes into existence in a time stop, and does not "wake" until the time stop ends. You essentially are summoning a creature into a very temporary stasis. Also (I dont have my PHB) but if Delayed Blast Fireball is in...

    D&D 5E (2014) TIME STOP SPELL (9º)

Time stop was always meant as a self-buff spell, or to setup a big effect. Now that buffing is sort of gone, I can see this spell being far less useful. Most aggressive mages used delayed blast fireball with this spell, so when it ended the monster was blasted with 2-5 fireballs all at once.

    D&D 5E (2014) Minor Ilusion SPELL

Based on the wording, a creature would use its action for the turn. Meaning a move, and inspect the illusion and that is all.

    D&D 5E (2014) DMG Preview: Creating NPCs

Not what I was expecting. The internet disappoints today.

D&D 5E (2014) Interesting (if you like geeky analysis) little anomalies in the 5e NPC statblocks

I think someone else on this forum was doing a monster analysis for CR. I think they found a Kua toa shaman thats like an 8th lvl spellcaster with 61hp and a CR1.

D&D 5E (2014) Social Contract Helping Other NPCs?

The player is playing you all. He knows the meta of the situation is that you will not ask him to change characters or leave the game table because he feels "character privilege" is in order... this absurd notion that playing asshat characters is protected under some gaming Constitution...

    D&D 5E (2014) So, 5e OGL

They always said an announcement about the OGL in the fall with a formal discussion coming early next year. My guess is that are going to announce the OGL in the Spring, with the docs releasing summer or fall 2015. Maybe early 2016. This gives WOTC enough time for 2-4 official adventures and...

    D&D 5E (2014) Implications of "Two Storylines Per Year...planned out to 2018"

Overall this is good, and a very Pathfinder approach. Keep the splat books down by making campaign oriented books. Want Psionics? As Mearls has said, buy the Mind Flayer Campaign Setting, and/or its support book. Makes sense and I like it. At 2 per year, gives me time and choices on what to...

D&D 5E (2014) Your Players Stole a Pirate Ship and Made Way for the Seas. Now What?

Depends on if the ship is a centerpiece of the campaign or just a tool to get them from adventure points. If its a pirate themed adventure, then it could be that the ship they stole was part of a larger fleet by a more fearsome pirate, who will be on the lookout. Could be interesting to see...

D&D 5E (2014) Minimum hit points and damage?

Correct. Unless reduced by something after the fact, such as damage reduction or resistances.

D&D 5E (2014) Minimum hit points and damage?

Its not in the basic rules, i'd have to check my book at home. Although levels after first the AVG is assumed. As a house rule I always rule roll hit points but take AVG if your roll is lower.

    D&D 5E (2014) Water Breathing

I despise underwater combat.... maybe because im finishing up a PFRPG Skull and Shackles campaign, but still, I despise it. Water Breathing is always modified in my settings to be Water Adaption. Allows water breathing, as well as spell casting. I still work out the movement and attacks normally.
