D&D 5E (2014) Ideas for an evil force trapped in rock

I like the bones of a dead god, but that is a bit much for FR lore. How about the bones of an ancient dracolich... a dracolich thats phylactery was never found, so the only way the original heroes could devise to stop it, was to spread its bones all across the Sword Coast, encased in magical...

    D&D 5E (2014) Opposition

These heroes were not forged because of who they fought, but rather by how they fought... how they won. Anyone can be written to kill a dragon, or slice their nemesis' throat. But true heroes arise because they outthink their enemies, outsmart the villain, or outmanuever the evil. Always...

D&D 5E (2014) The Lucky feat and Disadvantage

I ruled at my table that the lucky roll cancels the disadvantage. Since Lucky is essentially granting advantage, we know that advantage and disadvantage cancel each other out. So the player spends a lucky point and rolls 1 d20.

D&D 5E (2014) One Campaign To Rule Them All

Neat idea, but it steals the flavor away from the uniqueness of the settings. Plus it makes it very hard to integrate the setting specific races and features... I mean what is Eberron without dragonmarks and warforged... adding a warforged character into a dragonlance setting... see the issues...

    D&D 5E (2014) WotC 5E Release Schedule - What's Next?

The only thing I care about at this point is an OGL announcement.

    D&D 5E (2014) Revenge of Iarno Albrek

I will definitly be sharing... once an OGL is announced. In any case, the trick to time travel is that it has to be pre-planned and executed. Its fun to DM because you get to jsut do random, off the wall :):):):), and explain it 3 levels later.

    D&D 5E (2014) Revenge of Iarno Albrek

What a twist! Time travel is tricky by any means, fiction or rules. Im working on a large 5e module that is all about time travel, and handles it in the best way yet, or such that ive seen. Just remember that going back doesnt mean you replace yourself, and even if you do, you replace...

D&D 5E (2014) HotDQ looking like an early TPK...

My party was LVL4 during that encounter, and it was CLOSE... i mean 1 PC up and lucky halfling rolls to save the day. Level them up. Or play it by ear and remove cyanwrath for a later encounter.

D&D 5E (2014) Feat to negate disadvantage in casting spells at close range?

D&D is a system with limits. There are limits on the magic, limits on the weapons people use, etc... The GAME is about breaking those limits. Because that's what people in real life do. Adventurers are the most ruthless, ambitious type of people you can find. They would never settle for the...

D&D 5E (2014) DMG - prepare the hot pokers for Amazon!

I enjoy accents and local speech patterns, so I thought i'd reach out to our neighbor across the pond. Accents make your world much more believable... which is why I loved Zeitgeist flavoring the areas after England/France/etc. Kudos.

    D&D 5E (2014) Revenge of Iarno Albrek

If he escaped, he could easily disguise himself, get hired as the mine foreman, and begin funneling wealth out of the mine to his own devices. Left alone for long enough he could amass enough wealth to enact his plan to do whatever his diabolical little heart dreamed. Personally, Id have him...

    D&D 5E (2014) On Dungeon Design

With World's Largest Dungeon? Great book, sessions went well, took us about 6 months. Map system worked well for us. Wasnt invasive at all. When we got to a room with an encounter, DM would move the over-map, and draw the room.

    D&D 5E (2014) On Dungeon Design

We use battlemats at my table. Between us, we have 3. If its a large dungeon, I draw it out before hand and cover it, revealing it as the players explore. This works well for large, but not tightly packed dungeons. For those, I tend to rough draw the map, or use a small scale map, and use a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Errata

Check : http://thesageadvice.wordpress.com/ for official responses to questions. Sage Advice column will return in the new year on the D&D website in an official capacity. A formal FAQ/Errata is possibly in the works to be released. So far, there are very few, if any, glaring errors that...

    D&D 5E (2014) Wealth by Level

All true. But it would be nice to have a rough guideline for when the PCs take down a villain or NPC and aquire his lands/wealth/holdings. Not sure how that would balance with the treasure tables.
