Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

Which would be great if we lived in a world where IP wasn't king. But it is. Which means WotC can't actually make a desert-y, post-climate-apocalyptic world that isn't Dark Sun, because, as I've mentioned before, people would just complain why they didn't just remake Dark Sun, so they can't win...

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

I mean, I imagine if people weren't so obsessively possessive of their beloved IPs such that these are the only things that make money anymore, maybe we could have new different things. But then again, this wouldn't be a problem at all in such a world.

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

I really, truly does not, and no, we likely won't agree. But, after having spent the last decade watching this exact attitude absolutely ruin one of the most important fandoms in my life, I've still at least got to try.

    IN REMEMBRANCE--2025

The biggest problem with one horrible man dying is that it doesn't ever come close to balancing out the suffering, harm, and actual deaths they're ultimately responsible for. OTOH, this means that Colorado Springs is getting a new gender-neutral bathroom, and that's always a good thing

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

Speaking practically? IP protection and promotion. Otherwise? People want the opportunity to make the world better (and it's not like real life is making that possible anytime soon) and this gives exactly gives players that opportunity. Speaking more practically? If they did a whole new...

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

Might be a placeholder while they continue to hammer out the art direction. If anything it has a bit of an Eberron vibe, we're looking at exactly what I would expect a Living Cloudkill would look like, but maybe it is referncing some power in the UA (I haven't gotten to take a look at the actual...

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

Because, and I think this point is self-evident, people want it. It's obvious that you don't, and that's absolutely your prerogative. Nobody is forced to like or dislike anything. But other people have different tastes, different expectations, different wants. And critically, those people get...

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

If anything, "strongly hinting" isn't doing what they've done here justice.

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

Or, and here's an idea, they do call it Dark Sun, and the people who were going to complain about it anyway will complain about it, and the people who are going to be excited by a new take are going to be excited.

D&D General The Great Railroad Thread

Having spent most of the past two decades DMing for largely new players every time, I've developed what I like to refer as "nature trails". The trail is there, the trail is complete, and the trail is full of wonderful sights and adventure. But the trial also sometimes have branching paths...

D&D General In 2025 FR D&D should PCs any longer be wary of the 'evil' humanoids?

    Wary? Always. Immediately violent? Never.

At first I was like "yeah right" but then I read the subclass names and.... yeah, toe to tip, that's Dark Sun baby

Fallout – Season Two Teaser Trailer | Prime Video

Okie dokie! Lots.... LOTS of New Vegas references here. Tom Slattery was a perfect choice for House. @pukunui; New Vegas is the closest new Fallout ever got to classic Fallout. It's definitely a different experience not coming out of a vault, and your lack of any real history to the place is...
