It is abridged, but still brilliant...still the definitive adaption imo. As an abridgement I'm quite happy with it, even if Old Tom got chopped again...the BBC did redo the Old Tom part later on apparently, thats on some other collection.

Ahh...how familiar is this. Our group experienced something similar with our Lawful Stupid Paladin of Torm just last weekend. In a Realms game we're teleported into the middle of Thay, where immediately we see in the distance we see an army of undead being lead by Thayan Wizards and Knights...

I'd dispute that. The way Hugo played Elrond didnt remind me of Agent Smith at all. But then I've seen Hugo in MANY roles, unlike alot of non-Australians who probably have only seen him in The Matrix..and perhaps 'Priscilla'.

Yeah. Aside from how some scenes were filmed, the butchering of Aragorn and the Dunedain of the North is the thing the bugged me the most. Elrond did really bug me too...that whole scene with Gandalf in Rivendell. And TTT hasn't made it any better.

But it hasnt affected the creators. See Jeremiah for evidence of that...and the film of Rising Stars...if it ever makes it out of development hell. And JMS's comic work generally. Of course the cast dont seem to have gotten much work lately.

I really liked the Paul Kidd written ones. Damn funny if you ask me. Of course not being dead serious means they rub some Greyhawk fans the wrong way.

Well, I just saw TTT and for the most part I really liked it. I certainly enjoyed it alot more than my first viewing of FOTR. As for why, I'm not quite sure. Maybe my expectations weren't as high. Or maybe its the fact that many of my fave sections of LOTR appear in Fellowship, and those fave...
