Did I overreact or is my DM a moron? RANT

Fair enough, although I gotta admit that if I found out someone was refering to me as Dim I'd probably take it a little badly. The point stands though. Hassling him with questions in order to "whip him into shape" is a problem. To put it simply - GM'ing is a tough job at the best of times, and...

    Do you carry a pocketknife?

Nope, although for about fifteen years I carried a barman's friend that had a real itty-bitty blade in addition ot the corkscrew. On the whole, the corkscrew was the more important of the two tools :)

Did I overreact or is my DM a moron? RANT

You know, I think any game where the players are insulting or actively trying to make things hard for the GM (especially a new GM) is kind of doomed to failure from the get-go.

Available now from the Enworld Game Store & RPGnow http://www.enworld.org/shop/images/engs/product655/CGW7001_THumb-2.jpgWhy is it that in the majority of d20 sourcebooks and adventures, the magical weapons with the most interesting abilities are always longswords, greatswords, and...

    Revision Update

http://www.enworld.org/shop/images/engs/product663/CGW2001_THumb2.jpgWhile we here at Clockwork Golem Workshop have been a little quiet on the new release product this November, we haven't been idle. We've been taking the time to look back at some of our earlier releases and revising them using...

Gauging interest - Tournaments, Fairs, & Taverns 3.5?

Dude, you should have said something. I still have something like six of the draft files (including both original PDF and Print Revision) on my hard drive :) For what it's worth, I'd probably be interested in redoing the chapter on running fair and tavern encounters if you go ahead with this.

Which is Cooler, Yakfolk or Abeil?

Although the bee-folk are more interesting, they're the kind of race that I'll build a couple of adventures around. The Yak-folk are the kind of bad guys I'm likely to use long-term.

    Purchasing suggestions..

Conan would probably be my choice, given the list of things you wanted from the system at the bottom of your post, but the combination of MnM 2e and True 20 can handle almost any gmae concept I've come up with in the last couple of months with a little tinkering.

Call of cthulhu D20 or not so D20?

For running a strictly mythos game, the original rules are probably the better choice. For advice on actually running a really good mythos game, the d20 version is certainly the stronger book.

    Druidic Staff

I agree with the suggestion to make it a rod. Set a group of low-level powers appropriate for the PC's level, and describe it as a length of wood that is tipped with living leaves and other signs of being a healthy chunk of wood. It opperates in a cycle - every 28 days the leaves turn orange...

What would you like to see from Clockwork Golem Workshop?

I'm in the process of putting together a rough plan for CGW's release schedule in the New Year, and to christen our new forums I thought I'd put forward the question for the people who are actually buying our products - What would you like to see from Clockwork Golem Workshop in 2006? Some of...

Lost Books 12: The Bloodmoon Tome: A sorcerer who derived her power from her werewolf heritage, Mayan the Bloodmoon’s mastery of lunar magic and lycanthrope control were nearly legendary. Magic Systems

I've not had a chance to check out mythic earth, but most of my spellcasting systems are a fairly straight adjustment from the incantations presented in Modern Arcana and the Feat and Skill system used in Green Ronin's Psychic's Handbook.

    What happened to Cyre?

Everyone turned their hair dryers on at the same time :) Honestly, I don't know yet. It'll probably have something to do with the Dragon Prophecy, since that's been a big part of the game so far, but it may also have something to do with giving the warforged consciousness (since that's the riff...

Running a "Dawn of the Dead" zombie game in d20 D&D?

For my money, the best fantasy zombie apocalypse I've seen is actually Kingdom of the Ghouls by Wolgang Baur. It appeared in Dungeon back during the 2e days, but largely involved sending PC's through a vareity of areas that had been taken over by the undead. Even if you don't want to keep the...

    M&M 2nd Edition: Underwhelmed?

I've been running a 2e game for a while now, and by far the biggest thing that I missed from 1e was the ability to work out the cost for character's power in my head. These days I need a rule-book to properly work out what a characters should cost, and that bugged me for a long time. Then...

M&M: What types of heroes are in your games?

In my 1e game we had: The Cadet: A gun-toting super-soldier that was part wolvering, part captain america Broadband: A cyber-empath with electricity control. Later developed a robotic body when his flesh-and-blood form developed radiation poisoning. The Daschund: A young girl with very limited...
