Much, much cheaper than a Heal spell would be Cure Light Wounds. Sure you don't get to jump straight back into the fight, but you do stop bleeding to death (magical healing autostabilises).

Strict intepretation (this is the Rules forum after all): Since you have dropped below 10 hps, the item will take effect, and cast a heal spell on you, using up a charge. However, since you are dead, said spell has no effect.

1) Dragons are not stupid. 2) Snatch is obviously a useful tactic, as demonstrated by the characters's death. => 3) Dragons will use Snatch.

They could planeshift to the beastlands every night, teleport to a specific area, and have Velendo gate them back in the morning. Means no Miracle, but they do get a single stationary area they can centralise all their defences on (like that one casting of forbiddance).

I'd have him taken for interrogation, and killed one day later. If the PCs can manage to rescue him in that time, good for them. If they can't, well at least you didn't just say 'ok, you're dead'.

My DM let me take an 'enhanced disarm' feat that allows me to knock enemies' weapons flying when I disarm them. I haven't got to make an attack roll yet so I don't know how balanced it is.
