Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Those particular style of potatoes are also very rare to find at food joints in my experience. I can think of one local restaurant that offers them, and--Shakey's. Its honestly the only reason to eat at Shakey's IMO.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Yeah. The disturbing thing is always people who aren't scammers, but genuinely have convinced themselves some bit of woo is true, and have the kind of educational background and experience that should have given them the tools not to fall for it.

I don't get the arguments for bioessentialism

Though it is a specialized one rather than a generalized one.

I don't get the arguments for bioessentialism

I wouldn't claim its invalid; but if there are arguments why the new method of doing something is simpler, serves more people, or is more coherent with the rest of the rules, then I think I'm going to go with those being a progression even if some people's preferences don't match up, unless they...

And then if you don't change enough, people complain its not really a new game.

Are there any programs which let you create custom character sheets?

You can do that to some degree with any decent word processor, as long as you know how to do columns and such things as boxes. Fillable PDFs are more complicated as you have to own some (rather expensive) PDF editing software and can sometimes be tricky.

I don't get the arguments for bioessentialism

Well, they at least should be able to explain why on some level beyond "I'm used to it the other way". I can explain the problems I see with A/D; some people might not care, but they're at least something beyond pure taste issues. As an example, though I might argue whether its as severe as...

And you have to look at your priorities too; Advantage/Disadvantage is clearly a strong simplifier for many people, but its one of the biggest things that chased me away from any interest in 5e, because I think it threw out the baby with the bathwater.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I was startled when I saw one a few weeks ago. I thought they were gone baby gone.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I technically have a lot of choices, but my pickiness doesn't actually express itself in the direction of things a lot of people would consider "good" in some quasi-universal sense. I'll pretty much consume from any of those you name (though I let myself have pizza rarely enough none of those...

Its the same with Hero. There are still plenty of Hero System fans out there, but it just doesn't have the presence it once did when Champions was one of the first games people thought of regarding superheroes, whether they liked it or not.

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

If that was a reference to 13th Age, I'm pretty sure it explicitly tells you to be transparent about what's mooks and what's not. (Though depending on the Daily, using that on mooks can actually be a pretty good deal, since you almost never waste damage If you've got a dozen mooks out there...

Interested in checking out non-D&D fantasy "old school" ttrpgs

As I noted, I was never scared off by the tables, but trying to work my way through Spacemaster character gen ended up dissuading me, and that's something given my general taste in RPGs always leaned into the crunchy.

The ones with the rubber and metal stoppers? I don't think we did the cream soda, but I remember the root beer.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I remember when there were still A&W drive-ins when I was young. Wasn't the best food ever, but there was always a little something to it (and the root beer in the frosted mugs was special).

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

I understand your position, but at a certain point it comes down to "I expressed my opinion on the matter, and if people want to take it well beyond what I said, I'm not going to make sure they don't." I'm not sure I even consider D&D the best choice for compromise cases; it simply has the...

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

No. At the very worst it can be read as it being mediocre at everything. Those are not identical statements in any way. "Not good" /= "bad". This is not a binary context.

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

I think, at the least, "direct" is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that sentence. They may have had influence, but the only ones I'd call descendents are Rifts and Rolemaster (I don't know enough about Warhammer to judge).

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

Yeah, how someone can read "D&D tries to do too many things to be good at any one of them" as "piss poor" escapes me. I do think its never even been halfway good at simulationist concerns, but that may be my perception of what doing that looks like. I think its been somewhat better at being a...
