    What scares an Elf?

That inspires me. In the setting, I've established fey as physiologically transient, they take on "veils" of matter and develop them slowly over eons, often layering one on top of another, in a subconscious form of self-actualization. So over ages you get treants, satyrs, beast-men, sprites...

D&D 5E (2014) Bards: How did these become a thing?

Wow. I posted almost exactly the same post when 4e came out. So, I get it. I used to think the were horribly, cringingly bad. But, somehow, things have changed in the last 6, 7 years?. I don't know if it is me, or the game, but I am excited about playing a bard soon. I guess they grew on me...

    Drama ex Machina

Your question makes me think of "Vertigo", where much of the tension building actually happens in public. To everyone else, the woman seems normal, but because he knows her history and is following her, he knows what she is doing is extraordinarily strange. So, it is like they are alone, even...

    What scares an Elf?

I am running a game with a blend of faction-based warfare and cosmic horror. Presently, the party is split along a civilized / sylvan axis. I run the groups independently, on different days. This wasn't the case at first, and the composition will likely change again. So right now I am having a...

Unearthed Arcana Waterborne Adventures: New from Unearthed Arcana

The thing I don't understand about the article is that is says they are trying to support cutlass/dagger but there is no reason not to use two cutlasses. Also I wish you could do rapier/dagger more, it really is a shame.

Unearthed Arcana Waterborne Adventures: New from Unearthed Arcana

I get the idea, but I feel like some of the feats have actually dodged that problem. Greatswords definitely have that problem because the feat just makes you statistically better without changing the concept. I keep going back to TWF, but I really like how they did it, because the feat makes it...

Unearthed Arcana Waterborne Adventures: New from Unearthed Arcana

You are assuming you have to take every option available to TRULY fulfill the concept. Does a ranger or a rogue have to take the Dual Wielder feat to TRULY fight with two weapons? No. How does that hurt? A character with the Dual Wielder feat is good at fighting with two weapons. A character...

Yeah, I think that would work. I did one kind of like that for Minotaurs earlier in the thread.

D&D 5E (2014) Dungeons and Dragons and the RPG Stigma

This sort of thing has happened to me. It is just a type of bigotry that people are not tracking, so they don't filter for it. When people learn to "be nice to others" or "be polite", it for some reason comes with a list of exceptions. I am guilty of it. I think a lot of people think nerds are...

Unearthed Arcana Waterborne Adventures: New from Unearthed Arcana

Well, that is a weird example. I am looking at things like the Two Weapon Fighting fighting style and the Dual Wielder feat. They are thematically similar but designed so that they interact. They stack, essentially, because they don't improve your ability to fight with two weapons in exactly the...

Unearthed Arcana Waterborne Adventures: New from Unearthed Arcana

I think it would be good to have more than one way to be mobile, I just wish they interacted with one another instead of being redundant. Like TWF: You can just do it, or you can take the fighting style, or you can take the feat, or you can take both. I wish it was like that. You misunderstand...

Yeah. I guess if they are trying to please everybody, it was gonna get a little awkward at some point.

My point is that if they have to avoid stepping on Krynn's toes, they might as well not step on their own while they are at it.

Unearthed Arcana Waterborne Adventures: New from Unearthed Arcana

You are acting like your preferences take precedence over mine because they are based on Krynn. I will never run Dragonlance, so the fiction of Krynn is irrelevant to me. I like hulking humanoids, and my settings will always have at least one, but I'd like to mix it up. That is my reality...

Unearthed Arcana Waterborne Adventures: New from Unearthed Arcana

I get that, but I don't like it. By that same logic the Minotaur should be a hulking brute, because I might not be using Goliaths or Half-Orcs.

Unearthed Arcana Waterborne Adventures: New from Unearthed Arcana

The minotaur is pretty much a human variant, except it can stack its ability mod on STR. It gets 1/3 of the Shield Master feat and and 1/2 of Charger, then some proficiencies. I think it is balanced, though, because I think the piecemeal feat features aren't quite as powerful as one whole feat...

I like it. I am not a fan of how Fancy Footwork overlaps with the Mobile feat.

RIFTS Is Coming To SAVAGE WORLDS!

Wait, what? I thought Paladium got gutted by some internal conflict (borderline white-collar crime) like, 10 years ago. When did they get back on their feet?

WotC's Nathan Stewart: "Story, Story, Story"; and IS D&D a Tabletop Game?

I don't think RPGs need "support" beyond the core books to be successful. Many good RPGs have published their first run, then closed up shop. I don't think that is a failure. Second, I don't think APs count as support. I don't really like them. But if they do player companions I might get those...
