I wouldn't apply a penalty for bows. If the arrows are crudely made, give them -1/-1. Also, don't penalize spears.

That is a good question. The Arcane Trickster doesn't get a spell focus normally, but in this case I think he should. What do you think?

One thing I have been thinking of is having a dragon cohort campaign, and I think something like this would produce much more interesting dragon-companions than just the vanilla ones. So really, I'd be checking the balance among the dragons.

I'm thinking about allowing rogues to use Bard as the base for a variant of the Arcane Trickster roguish archetype. I am considering making it exactly like the normal Arcane Trickster, except using Charisma as the spellcasting ability and the Bard spell list. Any thoughts?
