OGL 1.2 survey is now live

I professionally and politely tore them a new one. The red line remains keeping the OGL 1.0a in effect and recognizing it as irrevocable as always intended and I made that explicitly clear in my comments.

D&D 5E (2014) Do you ACTUALLY use 3rd Party Books?

I'll have to check them out. Looking at their website it seems like they have some interesting stuff.

D&D 5E (2014) Do you ACTUALLY use 3rd Party Books?

I haven't checked out Mage Hand Press before but I did back Level Up and if I ran another 5e style game I'd likely use it versus vanilla 5e.

D&D 5E (2014) Do you ACTUALLY use 3rd Party Books?

Same here. When I was still running 5e before switching systems I removed Tasha's from my allowed list and included various Kobold Press items.

WotC Talks OGL... Again! Draft Coming Jan 20th With Feedback Survey; v1 De-Auth Still On

All the talk of Hasbro/WOTC being worried about some major company making a movie using the OGL/SRD doesn't have any basis in reality. The only way a studio/streaming service/large corporation would want to make a film using all that D&D affiliated content is if they were also getting the D&D...

WotC Talks OGL... Again! Draft Coming Jan 20th With Feedback Survey; v1 De-Auth Still On

Their tone is a lot better but until OGL 1.0a is acknowledged as irrevocable it doesn't mean anything.

    Oooh, looking forward to this!

    Can WotC be forgiven?

They are responsible for actively trying to destroy entire companies and cost likely thousands of employees their jobs so not unreasonable in my opinion. Plus they're surely executive level individuals so with the golden parachutes in their contracts I'm sure they'll recover.

D&D 5E (2014) Do you ACTUALLY use 3rd Party Books?

Before we quit 5e recently I was using more 3rd party content than WOTC stuff. I quit allowing player facing material after Xanathar's. But I use a ton of Kobold Press stuff both monsters and player stuff. Also stuff from Nord Games and Cawood Publishing's monster books. And I've got all of...

    Can WotC be forgiven?

It's not really about forgiveness. It's about regaining trust. And given what they have attempted to do it would take a lot to regain my trust. I would say at a minimum: Acknowledge they have made a horrible mistake trying to push the ogl changes on the community. With an actual apology and...

D&D General Are You Seriously Planning to Stop Playing and/or Running D&D Over The Recent OGL Developments?

Yep, already have. No more WOTC purchases. I'll still support third party publishers who are putting out books already in the pipeline but my groups have switched off 5e.

OGL: What Are The Publishers Saying [UPDATED]

I seriously doubt that they would be signing based on what I've seen of Goodman up through now.

OGL: What Are The Publishers Saying [UPDATED]

If I remember what Joseph said on this in the past he had the chance to review the GSL prior to 4e coming out and seeing the poison pill text to stop publishers from using the OGL if they accepted the new license he decided to just publish for 4e using the existing OGL. Eventually WOTC removed...

OGL: What Are The Publishers Saying [UPDATED]

For Goodman Games, on their YouTube/Twitch show Maw of Mike, Michael Curtis who is the line editor for DCC said they were waiting to see the official release from WOTC looks like. He doesn't seemed concerned about DCC going away anytime soon. No word from Joseph Goodman as yet.

OGL: What Are The Publishers Saying [UPDATED]

It's also worth noting that they own Deep Silver which is the company which published the Pathfinder Kingmaker video game which presumably also relies upon the OGL. Also, they have published Adventures in Rokugan which is the 5e conversion of legend of the five rings.

OGL: What Are The Publishers Saying [UPDATED]

I was a little worried about that too for the same reasons. As a big fan of Kobold Press I'm happy to see them not supporting 1.1. They have my support for their new direction.

    D&D General I DM because...

I DM for my groups approximately 90% of the time and I do so because I want to, I love running games, and because my groups want me running their games.

    D&D 5E (2014) Roll20 Pro Reserve Subscriber Perk.

I've already got it as I use a ton of Kobold Press material in my D&D games but make sure you grab this if you're subscribed everyone because it's chock full of monstrous greatness.
