    D&D 5E (2014) Asian Monk Weapon Equivalents

Sai as a club? I thought it was mainly a stabbing weapon, with clubbing people using the hilt a minor use.

D&D 5E (2014) Does this seem to be the edition that was made for splatbooks?

I expect we'll mostly have expanded character options linked to official modules or campaigns. Look at what we've been told about the upcoming Princes of the Apocalypse: Read more...

    D&D 5E (2014) How good are Barbarians?

Barbarians are pretty good, though I'm not a fan of how they're often roleplayed. Not that people are doing it wrong, I just find it annoying. Nah, Bear Totem gives resistance to all damage types but psychic while raging. Normally raging only gives resistance to piercing/slashing/bludgeoning.

    D&D 5E (2014) "I have a 45 Strenght!"

Why would you need scores above 30? That's the strength score of Tarrasque, the strongest Ancient Dragons, the Kraken, and the Empyrean.

    D&D 5E (2014) Anti-magic field and monster abilities

No. It's akin to claiming that creatures who can cast silence don't need verbal components for certain special abilities which give no indication of requiring verbal components.

    D&D 5E (2014) Anti-magic field and monster abilities

Abilities without keywords should work in antimagic field. Check out the demilich. All of the demiliches main abilities lack keywords such as "spell", "casting", "magic". Their lair actions includes creating an antimagic field. Clearly that is meant to be to the advantage of the demilich...

D&D 5E (2014) Halloween Game: War of the Worlds comes to the Forgotten Realms

Really fun idea. Mind-Flayers would work well. Otherwise you might consider Aboleths and other aberration-types. Beholders (on stilts!) would make good substitutions for the Martian Walkers and their heat rays.

D&D 5E (2014) Favorite thing from the Monster Manual so far?

I actually really like the new "weaker than normal lich" Demilich, even though I wasn't expecting to. It's really going to screw up your high-level spellcasters and magic items with that antimagic field and those spell-like abilities. On rounds with antimagic field it would only be damagable by...

    D&D 5E (2014) Monsters You Miss

I'd hoped for some Mind Flayer variations other than just an Arcanist. So Alhoon and Ulitharid mostly. The others could anyway wait for an Underdark splat book.

    D&D 5E (2014) Undead, how charming...

It's also odd that Undead don't seem to be immune to disease, unless that is falling under the "poisoned" condition heading. Which it may well do.

D&D 5E (2014) 5th edition Monster Manual: I think the really nice art detracts from the mediocre functionality of the book.

My point is there's no reason for people to complain about which of the two books it's in.

D&D 5E (2014) 5th edition Monster Manual: I think the really nice art detracts from the mediocre functionality of the book.

Honestly what's the issue with Monster Creation being in the DMG rather than MM? The only person using those rules will be a DM and they'll invariably have both anyway.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D 5e death and consequences?

Druid's Reincarnate is much more fun. There are actual consequences to using the spell, and I prefer the concept of requiring rare oils and ungents than flawless diamonds.

D&D 5E (2014) Bounded Accuracy: does it deliver as promised?

Sure, generally, but those in official play modules really shouldn't break the game.

D&D 5E (2014) What the Monster Manual is missing

    It's missing Were-Penguins.

D&D 5E (2014) Bounded Accuracy: does it deliver as promised?

I guess I would too, but those aren't our only choices. Bit of a false dichotomy there, bro. It'd allow a Paladin truly sick AC, more than the freaking Tarrasque or an Ancient Dragon - even assuming no other magical defensive items.

D&D 5E (2014) Bounded Accuracy: does it deliver as promised?

That would still really strain bounded accuracy though, up to +5 to AC from a single item definitely needs a rework imo. Even artifact weapons would only be +3 to hit, right? And you can't stack weapons on top of each other, like you could with that magical mask and magical armor/shield/Ring of...

    D&D 5E (2014) Bone Devil

In addition to the points raised above about silvered weapons a magical weapon does not need to be one with +X to proficiency. That's the type of weapon the game math doesn't assume as needed to progress. You could have other magical weapons with more niche bonuses, or even no bonus other than...

D&D 5E (2014) Bounded Accuracy: does it deliver as promised?

The Bracers of Defense (as currently written, re-write essentially confirmed via twitter), there's reportedly a mask in HotDQ which gives Cha modifier to AC.

D&D 5E (2014) Bounded Accuracy: does it deliver as promised?

There are a couple of ill-advised items in the modules released prior to the DMG (and magic item rules) being finalised which definitely strain Bounded Accuracy. I expect they'll be errata'd and magical items will be kept in hand. At least for a couple of years.
