D&D 5E (2014) Warcaster, polearm master and learning to love the optimizing?

Nope, because if you're casting a spell then that AoO isn't able to be triggered (at 10') since Reach only applies to Reach weapon attacks.

D&D 5E (2014) Warcaster, polearm master and learning to love the optimizing?

If you aren't attacking with the Polearm Reach does not apply, so those AoO circumstances don't trigger. Reach only applies to attacks made with Reach weapons.

D&D 5E (2014) Give my Dragon Encounter More Bite!

(Tucker's) Kobold minions, many of them, trapped lair. Use more EVIL spells... Darkness. Blindness/Deafness on casters. Tasha's, shove prone or Wing Attack on a PC who flies - them bring prone = speed 0 = falling. Heat Metal on someone wearing heavy armor. Hold Person. Magic Missile (to...

D&D 5E (2014) Warcaster, polearm master and learning to love the optimizing?

It works with Polearm Master at 5', not 10'. The Reach property effects how far you can attack with that weapon. When you make a War Caster spell reaction it is not an AoO (it's instead of an AoO), so you aren't using your weapon to make an attack and thus Reach isn't part of the equation...

D&D 5E (2014) Warcaster, polearm master and learning to love the optimizing?

No opinion required, just read the rules carefully, then DM decides for their own game.

    Animaniacs did it better though.

D&D 5E (2014) Warcaster, polearm master and learning to love the optimizing?

RAW it doesn't work. So since you're instead casting a spell instead of making an OA you are no longer using that weapon to make an attack, therefore its Reach property will not apply. It works with neither RAW nor RAI (according to Sage), it only works if you go by specific fluff.

    D&D 5E (2014) Dropping Flyers Cheese

RAW is essentially silent on the physical size of a dragon as it only gives space controlled in combat. It's not about what I like. I'm pointing out that people consistently call Force Cage immensely strong or overpowered as written, but this is due to a failure to appreciate the rules for...

Implied to be up to the DM as spaces don't correspond exactly with physical size, RAW. Rulings not rules.

    D&D 5E (2014) Dropping Flyers Cheese

Yet that's how this no-save spell is apparently balanced, RAW. Feel free to house rule and use grid sizes of course.

    D&D 5E (2014) Dropping Flyers Cheese

So? 5e has a lot of DM adjudication, RAW this is another example.

    D&D 5E (2014) Dropping Flyers Cheese

Grid sizes don't represent the physical size of a creature, just the space it controls on the battlefield (PHB 191), so Force Cage isn't that straightforward.

"Tabletop D&D Has Lost Its Way" Says Pathfinder Video Game Exec

Wikipedia says 1999? Even if it was 2001 that doesn't affect my point, that Obsidian made their best game with WotC/Hasbro in 2007.

"Tabletop D&D Has Lost Its Way" Says Pathfinder Video Game Exec

I really don't think cost is the issue, the rights for Forgotten Realms (at least) are already in use by Cryptic Studios/Perfect World Entertainment.

Mask of the Betrayer was better than either of those games. It's Obsidian's best and his best. I think it's odd that he harks back to pre-3.5 as his glory days.

"Tabletop D&D Has Lost Its Way" Says Pathfinder Video Game Exec

I think from looking at D&D branded games currently that Neverwinter MMO could be the stumbling-block. i.e. somebody already has and is continuing to use the CRPG rights to at least Forgotten Realms, if not all D&D settings.

Legendary Resistance doesn't apply to a skill contest. Have your Bigby's Hand grapple the dragon mid-flight.
