Well, my players are fairly powerful(40 point buy) so I already give all monsters max HP(to make it more challenging). For something this small though it doesnt seem like it'd be worth a bump in CR just for extra HP. Interesting point about them continuing to fight on, maybe an effect like...

My Players stay out!( Frank! ) Ok, so what would the value being of a cloak that made the wearer be totally ignored by vermin? No scent, sight, touch, etc. Vermin would react to be attacked in that they'd lash out at nothingness or run away. Would a cloak be an appropriate slot for this...

Well this is a Ptolus campaign, so I would say its probably illegal, and probably not game-breaking if the players keep it. Although I think the one player is starting to think of it as a pet, so its becoming an academic exercise figuring out how much it would be worth if he tries to sell it :\

He's not the DM, you are. Players dont tell the DM "I'm making item %s, and it costs %d to make", they say "I wanna make item %s, how much does it cost?" Item creation rules are a guideline, not hard in stone rules. Any restriction like that isnt really a restriction for him Anyway, so no...
