Unearthed Arcana New Unearthed Arcana: Rune Knight, Swarmkeeper, The Revived

I also have thought BGs are kind of meh. Wish they were more like what themes were in 4th edition, probably an analog in other editions as well. Even some 5E adaptations turn them into something with actual features instead of, "hope your DM likes doing this stuff" features.

Unearthed Arcana New Unearthed Arcana: Rune Knight, Swarmkeeper, The Revived

Swarmkeeper's Scuttling Eyes is a nice way of doing a sort-of-familiar-pet-thing. I like it. I like how Storm of Minions can be activated with a spell slot, even if you won't have many of those. The Swarmkeepers abilities and flavor overall is really neat. I could really enjoy playing this...

AD&D 2E What would you bring from PF2e to your 5e game?

This probably requires redoing all spell lists to separate lists n a way similar to what PF2 has.

AD&D 2E What would you bring from PF2e to your 5e game?

Shoot, I actually did forget about movement. Whoops. Maybe fighters at level 5 can attack twice with one action once a turn. Hmm, need to think on that some more. Or maybe I find another way to boost fighters damage and accuracy outside of attacking more. Back to drawing board.

AD&D 2E What would you bring from PF2e to your 5e game?

Nah. Fighters get a third attack without disadvantage when they would get their third extra attack. Other classes would never remove that third disadvantage. Not sure how that works out to a nerf for the fighter. EDIT: Read your comment again, yeah, we misunderstood each other. Classes with...

AD&D 2E What would you bring from PF2e to your 5e game?

Nah, I'd just do disadvantage the entire way down. Keeps it simple. So fighters at level 1 attack once normal, twice with disadvantage. Fighters at 5th attack twice normal, once with disadvantage. fighters at 11th attack three times normal. Then I guess at 20 we just give them an extra special...

    D&D 5E (2014) How to De-Magic 5e

I will say I love the Warden as a non-spellcasting bard replacement, and that the non-spellcasting Wanderer is much cooler than the Ranger, even though his core abilities might need to be changed a fair bit to work in campaigns with less stuff solidly mapped out.

AD&D 2E What would you bring from PF2e to your 5e game?

I like the three action system already and I'm happy with it. Your list there really looks like the three action system but split to me. The most interesting bit in yours for me is that it costs you reactions if you choose to keep acting in your turn. That said, 1 reaction to make an attack...

AD&D 2E What would you bring from PF2e to your 5e game?

I mainly want the three action system. I don't think it's impossible to bring over but it will take a LOT of work. Every spell has to be figured out. Most would just go to two actions but I could see arguments for a few to change number of actions. Movement would need to be reworked. Attacks...

    D&D 5E (2014) How to De-Magic 5e

Would the casters who lose cantrips gain more spells per day or extra features or some other thing? Or do you mean completely removing magic altogether so that wizards/rogues/sorcerers/bards/clerics in their current form don't even exist? Rangers and paladins shifting from spells to abilities...

    D&D 5E (2014) Unintended consequences from knife-throwing feature?

If you really want it to work with stuff that would normally only work with melee, just let the character have 20' reach with daggers on their turn (but they still have to throw the thing). But I think the above is the most correct in that giving the "no disadvantage attacking within 5 feet"...

D&D 5E (2014) What are your biggest immersion breakers, rules wise?

I find rolling initiative to be immensely immersion breaking. Shifting from other modes to combat always feels abrasive to me. In the games where its used, its integral and not easy to excise. A lot of people do enjoy it and I can see why. I personally don't love it. HP out the wazoo. When 5E...

D&D 5E (2014) Is the Warlock the Best Class?

Charisma-caster classes are the best classes, and Warlock is the best of them, so yeah. I also like the limit of two short rests before needing a long rest. I'd even give the option to continue going with short rests at the risk of exhaustion, if the players want some more flexibility.

D&D 5E (2014) UA interviews: The possible future for Pet Subclasses in 5e.

Issue there was also action economy, I believe. It was somewhat helped by some of the various powers that let both beast and master attack at the same time, and by the fact that opportunity actions and immediate actions were separate concepts, and were per-turn instead of per-round (as opposed...

D&D 5E (2014) UA interviews: The possible future for Pet Subclasses in 5e.

Could something like the sidekicks from the Essentials kit work as a long-term pet?

D&D 5E (2014) UA interviews: The possible future for Pet Subclasses in 5e.

This is an interesting way to go. While I think it makes sense to have these as spells that are just available to any ranger, a sub-class could exist that gets some mixture of "these spells are known by you and don't go against limits" and "you get to cast this or these spells X times a day...

Fantasy Grounds Top RPGs (Last 12 Months)

I wish we could get another version of that line graph just showing everything that isn't D&D, just to get a clearer visual representation. Seeing the gap between 5E and everything is useful, but would still like to see the rest separately.

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Cleric, Druid, Wizard Options

It seems that this thread has moved on from actually talking about these subclasses but I'm late to the party. Twilight Cleric seems neat. I never seem to like domain L17 features but this one is at least regularly useful. Circle of Wildfire is decent enough. Access to Fireball is always good...

Do you have any class? The class discussion thread (Paladins and Warlocks and Clerics, OH MY!!

This is exactly what Pathfinde 2E has done. The class is Champion, one of the options is Paladin. I think it's a nice and fresh take and retains some of the sacred cow while making room for new ideas in the same space.
