    [REQUEST] Intel Processor Hierarchy?

From what I've seen the core 2 duo processors are the way to go. On e*Bay (thanks to trancejeremy for mentioning looking there in another thread!) I've seen some places simply multiple the clock speed by 2 for the core 2 duo's to get their effective speed. I don't think it really works that...

    Erik Mona's Lo-Fi Experience System

I just use something like the regular system and assign roleplaying or other actions a CR of plus or minus 2 to the average party level. After the game I simply enter the various CR's overcome in a Google Spreadsheet, and it automatically updates the group's xp. My players can then check in as...

Best features in Pen and Paper VS. CRPG?

Like others were saying -- freedom. But that's not snarky enough :D so I'm going to be more specific: If I'm walking next to a four foot high wall, I can actually climb or jump over it. When talking to an NPC I have more choices than: a) goody two shoes b) complete and utter bastard, and c)...

How closely do you track daily expenses for your players?

We'll track it in the first levels when the players are poor and enjoy being able to eat something besides iron rations every once in a while. At higher levels we ignore it.

Mars Returns?? Too good to be true??

    Congrats! Looking forward to it.

    Best Modern Game System

Actually, I'd sort of reverse that. Of the three, I think Spycraft 2.0 is the most robust/complex system -- and I suspect that's part of what's holding back third party support. There's a huge amount of crunch -- even in the "fluff" sections like running a campaign. I'd like to run a campaign...

    Best Modern Game System

CORPS -- http://enworld.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=269& -- is also a strong, gritty system. It's pretty well known for precise gun rules too, even to the point where the publisher made a big books just on guns, called, shockingly, Guns! Guns! Guns! --...

D&D Insider - Pay tomorrow for what you get today for free?

I have to agree with Mark here. The 4 page mini-adventures and little promotional items are nice little samples but I wouldn't pay for them. Isn't that the entire idea of the samples anyway? When you go to Baskin-Robbins and they give you a spoonful of the flavor-of-the-month the premise is...

D&D Insider - Pay tomorrow for what you get today for free?

My dad once worked at this privately owned movie theater. One night the owner was down working the concession stand and this guy comes in with his girlfriend and starts buying the place up -- big tub of popcorn, sodas, candy, hot dogs, and a pack of cigarettes (this was back in the day). So the...

No, no, no, -- Windows users are hard-core. It'll include SwiftKickInTheGroin Technology.

D&D Insider - Pay tomorrow for what you get today for free?

Yah -- like sjmiller said. I had actually subscribed to both it and the d20 version (back when they had it), but let those subscriptions lapse. $20/year struck me as reasonable -- though apparently not reasonable enough to keep me a subscriber. But I'm not sure how good, or many, articles WotC...

D&D Insider - Pay tomorrow for what you get today for free?

As far as the special content goes, it would need to be rather special to justify paying anything for it. As it is, I don't use much of the stuff they put up for free now. The for-pay online magazine theory seems to lack a history of success too. I could find value in the online software and...

Code Monkey Lose WoTC License (Merged)

My suspicion is that this indicates that companies with too strong a fondness for Java driven apps find themselves going out of business. :D

    OotS #381 is up

Nale the character has so many ranks in Bluff that he can make up for what Nale's player actually says. :D

    Dundjinni Sold

I purchased Dundjinni and found the java performance so poor that I haven't used it at all, either. If they were going to stick with java, I'd just as soon they went purely Mac native -- because at least then it'd work for someone.

Do characters know what spell levels and HP are?

Pretty much the same other than that a fighter with high hit points will be understood to be both durable and canny in a fight -- and this might be observable in the way he carries himself or remains aware of his tactical situation.

    OotS #376

But if he bought it at Quest Buy I hear they're real dicks about returns ;)

    OoTS #373!

Xykon might have let her escape because he knows that she'll go back and interfere with the OoTS -- who would try to stop him, then he can go about his nefarious deeds while paladins and OoTS are battling each other.

    Neverwinter Nights 2!!!

That's good to hear. And I do want to point out that I think NWN2 is terrific on a bunch of levels, and that I did buy it knowing that I'd not get the full show until I did the computer upgrade I was planning for the next couple months. Which leads me to a related question for the public at...
