[Green Ronin] Call for d20 System Adventures

About how big is 20,000 words? I'm trying to picture how much work this... it sounds like fun. 32 pages or so, with art and maps?

    A rant on ASF

Intersting ideas there. I'll note that I've had the occasional wizard in my games who accepted the ASF in exchange for a little armor protection. (Admittedly, not more than 5-10%, and I think at least one was specialized so he couldn't cast Mage Armor.) I kind of like the idea of changing ASF...

    Truely Scarriest Horror Movies Ever?

Well, 'The Ring' creeped me out pretty good when I first saw it. I was glad I was watching it during the day (albeit with a darkened room), because I could go outside and get some sun afterwards and get over it. 'Candy Man' creeped me out pretty well too. That's not a movie I've heard of...

    Jury Duty

I was in for Jury Duty once. Sat in a room, reading books, until I got called onto a jury. I wasn't kept on the Jury, though, so I wandered off for lunch. One of my co-workers was called the same day, and he had a three day case that he apparently enjoyed having. I wouldn't mind another...

Have you been disillusioned by Eberron?

Personally, I continue to be enchanted with Eberron. I haven't been able to use it much, but hope springs eternal. :)

    Spell Compendium (Wotc)

Sounds interesting. I really liked the Green Ronin spell and magic item compilations from 3.0, and wish I had something similar (small, lightweight) for 3.5. I'll have to see what exactly this has in it...

    Oathbound - an overlooked setting?

Is it? My perception was that it was yet another d20 game world, which no one I saw or knew of ever talked about. Given that I don't need another (for all I know) generic d20 world, I haven't really looked at it. I think Oathbound's problem may be a lack of word of mouth.

This Weekend at the Boxoffice - 06/27/2005

What I found interesting is how poorly Bewitched did. First week out, and it plays second fiddle to a movie from last week? Ouch. Now, not many of the films from last week did well, that's true. I'm thinking Mr. Romero's hoping Land of the Dead picks up some word of mouth... anyone seen it?

    WotC Stores?

Hm. We had a WotC store here near Denver - it was out of my way to go up there, but if I was at the mall anyway I'd go and browse around. Back when they had the big sale on non D&D games, I stopped by and dropped a big chunk of cash to pick up a bunch of neat books. I was pretty happy about...

Gamma World: Did it have a "Core Story"?

Wow - I remember that post. Dang good.

An open "Thank you" to Erik Mona

Dungeon is fantastic stuff, Erik. Keep up the good work.

    Wil Wheaton Drops Dungeon Column

I loves me the Mt. Zogon. Creepy Underdark chick and her talking mushroom are too too funny. I want to like Downer more, but I really think the format isn't working for the story. There are bits of it I've really liked, but it's hard to get into half-way, and that's a problem when the story...

    Wil Wheaton Drops Dungeon Column

I quite liked 'Will Save', and I'll miss it in future issues. But I'm sure I'll still get to hear some more about Will's gaming in his blog and elsewhere.

    [June] What are you reading?

Yes, it is. It's a nice book, physically - hard covers and a ribbon sewn into the binding for a bookmark. It's a good book, but it helps if you're familiar with Java, as all the examples are in it. (Not a big problem for me, although I work mostly in C#.)

    [June] What are you reading?

I'm currently reading 'Refactoring: Improving the Design of Existing Code', which is very interesting. On an RPG front, I'm working my way through the Planar Handbook, with an eye to adapting it to my current game. On a fiction front, I've got a few books I'm saving for the beach. :)

    Clive Cussler Novels

I've been a fan of CC for a couple of years now. I started when I picked up a copy of 'Inca Gold' at a used bookstore at the beach for reading (my luggage had been lost), and devoured it. Since then I've read most of his Dirk Pitt books, but not many of the other ones. (Haven't read the...

    ENWorld Forums equivalent for Gurps?

Well, you might give the Pyramid magazine and forums a try - they are pretty good as well, and via Pyramid you get some interesting GURPS-based articles. Plus - hey - weekly game magazine. :)

What OTHER game magazines do you read? (besides Dragon or Dungeon)

Shadis and The Unspeakable Oath are both good magazines who unjustly faded away. I know that technically TUO isn't cancelled - but a magazine that puts out an issue once every two or three years has stopped being a magazine and become a series of anthology supplements, IMHO. I haven't really...

What OTHER game magazines do you read? (besides Dragon or Dungeon)

The main gamers mag that I subscribe to these days is 'Pyramid Online' - I've got most (if not all) of the print issues, and the online mag continues to have pretty good content. Plus, you get stuff weekly. I occasionally read KoDT - I used to read it more often, but my FLGS stopped carrying...

    Best DVD Commentaries

I've got a copy of 'A Night at the Opera' (on LD - don't know if it's on DVD) that has a commentary track by a critic, for rather obvious reasons. Sometimes it can be interesting to hear what an interested third party thinks of a work.
