    Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart

That the cards actually help the game design makes it a little bit worse for me, since they had the freedom to design something that would have worked for people without the cards. I am objecting to that design, which seems to be a holdover from D&D and Vancian casting. I hardly feel it is...

Right, that's my point: that sort of Spell design that makes cards a utilitarian tool can be solved further upstream by making the abilities more intuitive. It's a Band-Aid solution.

Yeah, and that might be a flaw in 5E that those are attractive, and I still find them...unaesthetic. But note what I said: I never heard of anybody needing "Skill cards" for 5E that do stuff like explain how to use Skills like Athletics or Psrformance: Spells people felt the need to have them...

    Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart

My point was that it was interesting to hear from somebody who had a similar distaste to me who has reluctantly enjoyed it in practice. It does seem to me that are more elegant solutions further upstream in the design process: never heard of anyone making "Skill cards" for games such as 5E...

Yeah, still not really appealing to me, personally, compared to a character sheet.

That's a problem with all TTRPGs, are you kidding.

Hmmm, interesting to hear your experience from that: the cards did not appeal to me in abstract.

I mean, heck, you may have chances to meet the designers at a local con there.

D&D General Forgotten Realms - why do you still like running games here? +

Forgotten Realms started as Ed Greenwood's crossover fanfiction playground, so basically there is room for any sort of Fantasy story, somewhere, and often with some really fun and creative hooks. Unlike a lot of RPG Settongs, which are made for commercial usage, it's origin in person al...

    Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart

I do think with Daggerheart that is less of a barrier right now than with a lot of RPGs, because of that Critical Role media element and attention.

    Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart

As someone not terribly interested in getting into Daggerheart as a game, personally, this right here is what I do find most intriguing about it as a phenomenon. It does not have the same mixture as D&D, particularly the legacy part, but it does seem to be hitting a lot of D&D's strengths that...

Nobody thinks Daggerheart will "replace" D&D...but it can establish itself as a major player, IMO.

    Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart

I mean, sure, but gritty dungeon crawling is a pretty niche and focused interest: speaking as someone who has tried to interest friends & families in DCC for years, only a subset of RPG players want that vibe. Daggerheart, on the other hand, seems to offer a broader and flexible ge re canvas...

    Does Anyone Care? (Cosmere RPG)

For sure, my brother-in-law is part Philipino, but mostly Irish and Norwegian, and he has brown hair with red hints but mainly Pacific Islander features. It does seem I misremembed about skin tone, but she is both firmly Ginger but also firmly East Asian in features, which is at least striking...

    Does Anyone Care? (Cosmere RPG)

Szeth is, in fact, the token Caucasian-coded character in the series: the mysterious and exotic land of Shinovar is European-coded, the rest of Roshar where the action mainly occurs is very much not. Some art fromt he Welcome to Roshar book for an example: And in fact, Kaladin is East Asian...
